couple ?s on torque converters

I've read on the net that a out of balance TC can not only ruin a transmission but also the engine, ?1.is this true or false? I'm assumming it's true.

?2.can a transmission shop check for prefect balance of a TC? if yes do they balance the TC?

I'm assumming it's like balanceing a crank either adding wieght or removing wieght.

we talking stock or aftermarket ?

yes i can see a out of balance TC causing increase wear.

for your other questions i dont know.

I don't like a loose TC. this is a DD car.

2600 is a perfect fit for the duration of my mild cam and rear end gears.

I'm with shady.....in the long term you'll most likely wish you would've went considerably higher. I run a 3500 in mine and it could easily be daily driven. I *think* yank gives you a free re-stall maybe. Try it out and if you want bigger you can always get it re-stalled. What's the numbers on your cam and what gears?

I have a Y3000 coupled to 3.73's, and if I had to do it all over again, I would go with a 3600 stall, do not waste your money on anything below a 3k stall.

Yank makes a great unit.

That looks like a "Vinci" camshaft. Pretty mild on duration and lobe sep. Not sure what their idea of "powerfull choppy idle" is, because I run one of their camshafts very similar to those specs in my wifes car, (on a 112),,and I have the thing idling as smooth as a baby's butt at 700 rpm.
In any event, I'd go higher on the converter as others have mentioned. I have a 3400 in mine with 3.23's and it's easily a daily driver.
If I had more rear gear, I'd bump the stall even higher. Especially since more rear gear tends to tighten the feel of the converter.
