how about a 46 inch lcd 1080p vizio, i actually work for a furniture and appliance that sells every brand of tv. funny thing is every tv is just as likely to go out as the others. the differences in price are caused by novelty features, apperance accents, and nominal differences. i was originally set on a 47 in phillips or 46 in sony until i did a comparison via the web and a couple of instore visits with no wallet on me to avoid impulse buying. upon comparing 46-50 in 1080p tvs vizio kept coming up rated high alongsided sony, samsung, and LG. so i went to a wal-mart, a best buy, and a circuit city. and did a visual comparison from about 15 feet away from the wall so i could see the tvs without seeing the price or make. upon closer inspection i really liked the sony 46in xbr, and the vizio, and the samsung. only bad thing is there are like 6 different versions of the sony bravia xbr and they go up to like 4500 to much for a tv, samsung was good but not as good as the vizio. so i compared the vizio and similar priced sony bravia and the differences were way huge, no picture in picture on the sony, and it had a plastic looking bezel which is a turn off for 2400 when the tv for 1500 has a better picture quality, better apperance, picture in picture, and has a one year warranty from the factory and you can go to the factory in irvine, calif.

DLP does not mean a projection tv does it? Those things that are like a huge ass box with a film projector shining on the inside, becuase those are the most hideous shits I have ever seen.

Everytime I try to buy a new big tv a fucking man bear pig slaps my hand, can you believe that shit!

I thought they were still a type of projection tv but are defintely smaller the traditional projection. When I move I told the wife we didnt have room on the truck for he mitsu 55" projection tv so I could get a new one. Didnt want that huge ass thing in our smaller living room.

It must be loud, the last time I watch a movie the neighbor knocked on the door. And she is 25 yards away.

i also want to chime in and say that the picture quality of DLP is far above LCD and Plasma... if you are watching a TV from the side your room is not set up correctly...

dlp stands for digital light projection in which a lamp is lit up to go through a tiny little light tunnel lined with mirrors, it then goes through the mirrors to bounce through a color wheel which is full of different colors on the spectrum spinning at highrpms, then goes throughthe famous chip of millions of little mirrors, then once again projected onto a mirror that flips it into the correct position... they are very neat... i take them apart every day

Thanks. I have been very happy with it. I can actually watch tv in the daytime without closing the blinds.

i agree, but youve got to work with what youve got. in my living room we have two couches, one that sits dead on in front of the tv, and the other 90 degrees to it, making a sort of wrap around effect. there is only one seat that doesnt see perfectly.

i have friends who bought projectors and think they are so smug. "my tv is 100 inches across", but they seriously cant watch tv with any other light in the room. plus it looks crappy because most of my friends are too cheap to buy a screen, so they just shoot it at the wall.

DO NOT buy a dlp, or rear projection or lcp tv the bulbs burn out within a year or two believe me bro i sell tvs all day go with lcd 1080i or p there is no difference in the interlaced or the progressive scan i.e. the i or p designation , the only difference is in which the tv gets the scan p is direct and i has to be deinterlaced before its sent, but it doesn't matter because we only 24 frames-per second and the tv refreshes at a rate of 60 frames a sec. so the tv s automatically convert at a rate of 3:2. the only difference would be if you have a p player device such as blu-ray or hi-def dvd then the picture will be a little less jerky but believe me you won't notice.

i have a rear projection 1080i... i've had it over a year and it works perfect... a buddy joe has had a DLP fro a bit over 3 years now and his works just fine... but like Ed said it's easier to replace a bulb than it is a pixle...

I have 2 dlp's in my house. 1 65 inch and 1 52 inch in my parents room. the one in my parent's room we have had for 2 and a half years with no problem at all. I have lcd's all over my house. I have an lcd tv in my room(32 inch westinghouse), 1 in the basement(46 inch westinghouse), and one in my dad's office(32 inch westinghouse), plus I have a total of 14 lcd monitors in my house if you include my laptop. at the office we have 5 lcd tv's 40 something lcd monitors and a dlp projector. all of them work fine. we have had 1 lcd die in the passed 2 years. it was because of a rat biting on wires though.
