It took them a month to send me a new Xbox 360 when mine crapped out. They gave me a free month of Xbox Live tho, that was cool since I didn't have it before.

really, you got a whole new unit? They said they just going to repair mine. That was nice to get some free LIVE action. I need to sign up for that.

ya, they said they couldn't fix it, so they sent me a whole new one. I couldn't complain.

wow, if I get that offer I'll ask if I could just pay the different and get the new Xbox 360 Ultimate.

well, they didn't tell me they were sending me a new one, they just left a little note in the box when I got it back saying it was brand new.

My xbox thinks it's a DVD player

I'm not kidding you. whenever you try and load a 360 game/disc in it, it says "blah blah blah, uncapable, please use this disc in an xbox360 system"

Mine does that too, you have to eject the game and put it back in several times. It should eventually work.
I believe that's a sign that your box is going down the tubes.
Cleaning the disk drive helps, but won't stop it.

Xbox 360s seem to have problems every now and then. like when Xbox Live goes out. Whenever that happens I just play some Wii Tennis. it's always ready to go.
