Like a lot of other people, I do as much as I can. So far I haven't encountered a problem that I haven't been able to fix. I was wary of voting the way I did however, because when I install a tranny or a cam I'm going to need a hand.

Did the whole swap in a one car garage.

Only things I didn't do were the custom duals and the fuel fittings.

specially in the summer man. You basically just fall into your own car, turn on the a/c and head on out with your brakes squeeking and your window not working

Right now I am at the trail end of doing a complete rebuild on the motor. New crank/rod/cam bearings, piston rings, 1 new piston (from crash, thanks again man), ls6 oil pump, ls2 timing chain, cam, heads, roller rockers, puch rods, intake manifold, tb, clutch, gears, new bearings/races for diff and fuel pump.

This car was a project me and my buddy (who is a diesel mechanic) were working on for the weekends. It was really nice to be able to get tools from his shop rather than going out and buying them. Only wish we had a lift to use

I'm with you man. I have built/re-built more motors/rear ends/trannies and everything in between that you can imagine. But I am just tired man

I got a suggestion to some of you DIY'ers that have never really messed with the engines before and wanna change out things like cams, valve springs etc.... Be freakin careful with that and make sure you have someone that knows that stuff do it with you or for you.... If you screw up cam timing you can have real nice Piston to valve collisions, and if you start trying to change valve springs and are a klutz about it it can become a mess real fast. just some thoughts on this lol

It must have been awsome to grow up during the time when a muscle car was really a muscle car. My dad used to tell me stories about all sorts of crazy stuff. Fuck California and the dam hippie tree huggers who live here.

Not to mention cars of those days were soo much easier to work on. Hell you could change the entire top end of your engine and get it running right in your garage with a screwdriver and never once touch a dyno if you didnt wanna. At least thats what my parents told me lol Now todays cars are more cramped, way more complicated, and way more expensive if you fuck something up

I do almost all my own work on my car. I did everything in my sig on my own or with a friend/dad.

The funny thing is I DON"T do my own oil changes. I run syn. oil so I buy that along with the filter. I then drive the car to the local shop (call ahead of time) Drive it straight on the lift and wait and watch them change my oil. I then hand the guy 15 in cash and leave
