Thread: Widest Tires Possible?
-

i have the exact tires you bought and have had no problems at all. you might as well do the clearance stuff any ways. i like the tires but they will break lose if you get on it very much. i thought about nittos but these are good tires.maybe not the best but im very happy. the only thing i dont like is the tread pattern, for some reason to me tread pattern helps the appearance of the car.

The diff is gonna be tire pressure. Nittos vs a reg street tire will be about the same on the street, but when you lower the psi thats when the DR will be much better than the other tires for 96 bucks. I run 25psi on the street and they hook up well..not much tire spin at all. I had the KOMOS before and I was spinning all they way through 2nd on the street.

Just got done doing the rear wheel base mod. Simple as can be. I had bought the biggest hammer possible and my grinding was a bit over kill
but I was still able to sneak it in there and grind down the bump stops. Just waiting for my tires to come in now.

since we're talking about wide tires... you can fit 335s on all corners as well... follow links in my signature and see the red Camaro w/ them
fronts = no problem... rears, needed to flare the fender.

You can fit 335's on the front f your car without doing any modifaction to it. How do you flare the rear fenders. Is that something someone can do in there garage or will they have to take it into a shop and have it done?

Did any of you guys have to cut and roll the inner fender lips on the rears to clear those big 315 meats? I thought that was standard practice along with the BFG mod in order to clearance those big tires?

i did nothing to mine and they are fine. i would probably go ahead ang grind the inside if you already have the wheels off.

also seen a local fbody guy lose control of his car and hit the ditch cause his 315s unmounted from the rim when turning and skidded, lost control on a pothole and the tire unmounted, throwing him in the ditch !
wasn't nice.
a few days later, he decided to buy 17x11s

Ok its been awhile since I posted but I figured I'd give you all an update on the 315 story. Its been 10,000 miles since I have had my 315/35/17 HTRz's mounted on my stock 17 inch rims. I know there were a few of you that were really against it thought it wasn't safe but I figured I'd try it out anyway. Kinda a pain in the ass to get them to mount and get the beed to seat since I did it myself and tried to save money here and there. Tires look great. They may hang over the rims by maybe half an inch, but I actually found that to be useful ass the tire does protect the rim when you are trying to park and hit the curb. As for the tire being dismounted on tight turns I pretty much put that to the test one night when I was messing around with a Viper on the freeway. I know I had no chance in hell against a viper but its all fun. So as the speedo is climbing I happen to see that I was keeping up with the Viper fairly well maybe 1 car lenght ahead of me he was and all of a sundden he started to break really fast I looked down at my speedo and noticed I was at about 125-130 mph and looked ahead a saw a pretty nasty turn coming up I took the turn at about 115mph and my back tires were breaking loose from the pavement scared the shit out of me, thought i was gunna loose control, but i didn't. So as for the 315 dismounted on 17/9.5 rims my tires actaully broke loose from the pavement first on a tight turn before they dismounted from the rim. I'd say I feel pretty safe with my 315's on my stocker 17 inch rims.
