2000 Grand Prix GTP- 2000 Trans Am WS6 M6
I have a 1996 Chevy Suburban that my family has owned since 2000. We bought it with 60k miles and I still own it today with 203k miles on it. That beast has proven itself time and time again...snow, mud, small rivers, etc...never flinches and keeps coming back for more. I would never buy anything but a GM Truck, and that's not even cause I dislike Ford, it's because my Chevy has never let me down.

im not partial to either truck by the way. Im just stating facts... In my opinion, they will all get the job done. I know a guy with a chevy that has 200k miles and a guy with a dodge with 200k+ miles. they are all good trucks

Too bad that everything bolted to the Dodge frame falls apart, except the Cummins engines. Based the experiences of my good friend's 2002 Ram 1500. Total POS.
Ford or Chevy

see everyone has their own opinion... my grandpas dodge (2001 sport 1500) has 160k miles and no problems
my dads old 1996 ford f150 was a total piece of shit. it never set outside during snow storms or rain. yet it still rusted away faster than a 1982 dodge that was always outside. he replaced the engine in it, had to replace the transmission, and the exhaust was all rusted out.

i would just go for whichever one drives better, and has the least visual abuse.

Honestly, I'm not a huge fan of GM anymore at all, but I must say they currently make an awesome truck and basically always have, I would strongly consider looking into a Chevy/GMC truck in your price range. By far my favorite manufacturer when we're talking about trucks.
I like my truck a lot, not ONE single piece of chrome on it, nice interior, very good factory stereo, OK motor/trans when tuned properly and they can be quite the sweet looking vehicle when taken care of properly. With the addition of a few subtle mods you're even better off (at least a size 285 tire, keys/spacers, tint). I can't really say the same thing about the non-Z71 LT Suburbans/Tahoes, just not really the same.Last edited by Transamws6; 10-25-2010 at 12:07 PM.

sunset orange metallic- 2002 T/A convertible
My $.02 worth: My D/D is a '92 GMC Yukon w/194k on it. 350/ 4A (also the ONLY year you could get a 5spd manual in one). Thing runs like a clock. Only mod was a custom made true-duals exhaust and a mega-killer stereo system. The truck is just now rotting out in front of both rear wheels ( known trouble spot ) and along the rocker panels under the doors. Going into the body shop this week as a matter of fact to fix it. If you can get that Tahoe for a good price ( miles? ) I would jump on it. Just go to Weather Tech and get a rear cargo liner for it.

troof, my dad had a new '03 that felt solid. Less rattles than my gmc for sure. Took some huge hits, f-350 dually crew cab diesel only dented the bumper from 30. A corolla at sixty tapped the bed to the cab, the engine was in the guys lap. We thought he was dead but our dodge drove like new
also troof, they rebuilt the limited slip three or four times under warranty due to the clips breaking and it was bad again when sold at around 120k. This was behind a dog 4.7. Not to mention the truck not starting and having to be towed twice due to security crap, heater core blew up, and countless other issues. Seems like I see alot of 4.7 trucks smoking too, might just be maintenance.

always dirty- 2013 Ram 2014 Caddy ATS
That tahoe looks nice. Why not pick up a small utility trailer. It would also be good to haul around a snowmobile or quad too.

im a gm guy my fullsize blazer was hit head on and is gone and i just piced up a 01 gmc 3500 duramax. you can find good ones of any truck but this is what i found to look for.
dodge-the front end gets lose bad and will sway bad but they make kits to fix it. but the only way i would get a older dodge is if it came with a cumins.
ford-its a got a bad issue with the i-beam front ends as well and i dont like the way the 4x4 works on them i just dont see way some one would want to get out and have to lock the front wheels each time you put it in or out of 4x4.
foreign-rust bad
gm-trans go bad i had one just put in my blazer befor i got hit.
