Phantom Black Metallic- 2004 GTO M6
Nope. Not a dealer. Independently owned GoodYear/Gemini. We pretty much do anything with the exception of pulling motors or head work. Since I have worked there I have assisted with alignments, clutch installs, strut replacements.
With the last car, I did my own work when I worked for Sears years ago.
I work in Mahwah. Unfortunately my boss isn't hiring.

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
So, I'm the only one who doesn't want to work on his car anymore?
While I can do just about anything and have the tools (had my own shop from 86-92) I really don't care to work on anything anymore except my 67.

Ditto. I do everything I can myself and if I get in over my head I have a best friend to call on. I also firmly believe that you can never own too many tools. The collection grows every year and it all gets used. Wrenching on cars is my own personal therapy -- keeps me from flipping out on all the idiots I have to deal with on a daily basis.

wow thats all pretty easy stuff too. maybe I will give a tire place a try. Would you say that mostly the old timers get all the good work or is there money to be made for the young guy that can do all of what you mentioned on his own? I became a pro at alignments from my last job, strut replacements are cake, I can pull trannies SLOWLY lol

Pewter metallic- 2000 Camaro SS
Thats not uncommon. I know a few mechanics that spend so much time working on other cars during the day, the last thing they want to do is come home and turn wrenches on their own car. Thankfully, its a hobby to me and something I ENJOY, so it doesn't have that dreadful syndrome to me. I imagine if I spent years working on cars for a living, I would have had my fair share of it as well.

Black- 2000 Camaro Z28
I try to do what I can, My uncle is a mechanic and lets me use his shop and will guide me through most things, all I've ever done on my car was 2 sets of tires and the oil about 5 times, but I was taking my 62 willys jeep in to get the brakes looked at and the tranny locked up as I was rolling onto his lot so we tore into that and I got to see how a simple little tranny rebuild is done.

I do all my own engine work, brakes, shocks, struts, springs, gottta pull the tranny now and that is going to a pro to rebuild
