Spark Plug change

I always had to go under neath to get #8, prior to LT's I think I had to remove the starter to help get some extra space.

I guess is different exhaust setup for different years then. I can't do #8 from underneath

Just did mine Saturday. #8 from the bottom was a snap. Cuts, scrapes, and bruises all over my big hands from the effort, but it's done. New wires too. It had original plugs and wires with 112,500 miles and 9 years old.

Biggest problem was getting the boots off the old plugs.

The first time i changed the plugs on my 98 i removed/installed #8 from the bottom... Although It was a major PITA. I have found it way easier to just remove a couple of coils and get at it from the top.

maybe thats why i think i cant do it from the bottom. its easy from the top for me as long as i take the coils out.

The only way I can get to 8 is from the bottom...that is without taking anything off from the top.

8 from the bottom was a snap for me. I actually did the wire from underneath too. I'm running stockexhaust and cats too.

I had to take care to index the ratchet and socket the corret way to be able to turn the ratchet, but other than that is was a breeze.

I spent more time messing with the coil rail bolts on that side than doing the plugs actually. I ended up leaving them on. Unless you've got forearms like Popeye, you shouldn't have to remove anything other than the AIR fitting on the exhaust manifold.

With these plugs, they should be gapped at .060 . If you are running boost, you might try .040 . FYI. As you are stock, .060 is what you want.
