removing fuel rails

I have an 02 ws6. I'm on the hunt for an infamous tap after the cam and heads install. I just want to check the rockers to be sure. . I read everything on ls1howto.com except they skip the first step. What exactly should I remove to get the fuel rails out of the way. I only need to remove the driver side valve cover. Sorry for being stupid.

Fuel rails are not in the way of the valvecovers.

there are two hoses bounded by foil with the words caution fuel and flammable written on them. They run across the coil packs and plug into an extension of the rails. Is it safe to just pull on the hoses. I don't know.

Shouldn't need to pull those hoses either.
Just work under them.

I just pulled the drivers side valve cover the other day. The coil pack rails you should be able to slide all the way back and down toward the exhaust manifold/header, then rotate the front end up and come out over the top of the fuel lines. Then the easiest way to get the valve cover out is to pull the bolts out. Those rubber grommets will take a good bit of pressure but they do come out. Once they are out slide the valve cover out in between the fuel hoses and the reservoir for the power steering pump. You may want to use one hand to slightly pull up on the hoses to give a little extra room. You don't have to remove the bolts that hold down the valve cover but if you don't they will keep getting hung on the rockers, then the hose, then the pump. Removing them just saves you some aggravation.

If you must remove the fuel hoses they make a special tool for it that you might be able to pick up at the auto parts store. Be aware fuel will leak out so sparks and heat are a serious no-no. I would advise against it because it is unnecessary.
