Engine HELP
I just drove my 2002 WS6 and for some reason it is revving up instead of down when I throw it into neutral before coming to a stop, even in neutral the rpms stay around 2000?? It also feels like it has more power when I shift into each gear. The only thing that brings the RPM's down is the brakes. When I brake it slowly drops but the needle does not return to 1000 rpms like it usualy does in the idle position. The rpm's even dropped below 1000 around 500 at one point. could my IAT sensor from SLP be causing this problem. The temp here in michigan is 36F right now. I have heard that this mod (IAT sensor) can make the car run "rich" or "lean" depending on the outside temp. So I immediately turned around and headed home, so I wouldnt damage anything further. I also smelled a really strong gas like smell when I got out to check the engine???

Sounds and acts like your dumping fuel big times. Did you reset your PCM to relearn after installing this thing? I need to go look and see what it is you installed.......
This is my signature. It is mine. Nobody else has one like it.

Take that crap out of there. All it does is fool the pcm into thinking it's always sucking in cold air so that it won't retard the timing. You could have made the same thing that you bought with a 5 cent resistor.

Did they throw in a "Turbonator" for $19.99 with the IAT purchase?

Engine Help reply
Thanks for the replies, fellas. The only thing is, this mod actually did add horsepower. I noticed the increase immediately after installing it-the pedal seemed alot more firm (like when it was new). I also checked with quite a few people on this website that said they had absolutley no problems with this same mod?? Also I installed the thing like a year ago ,and drove it in cold weather. so I am wondering if the problem could be due to something bigger than a 25.00 IAT sensor. I mean could this mod actually make the RPM's increase in neutral instead of decrease-like normal??

IAT is could be the issue with yor car but at the same time, your car sounds like its having the same problems of big cam cars. Mine does the same thing because I increased my manifold vacuum with a booster for my brakes. In neutral it peaks the car to 1200 so when I hit the brakes it doesn't drop low enough to kill the car.

Not to be harsh here, but that IAT sensor didn't add any HP. You just got the typical mentality that "I did a mod so I added HP". Please don't take this the wrong way, just trying to be realistic. Even if it did add 1 HP, its not something you are gonna feel.
