Rear wheel bearings
Looking to buy new wheel bearings. From what I've read, I need 2 bearings, 2 seals, rear-end gasket and gear oil to perform the replacement. Can anyone give me their input on brands and part numbers? I was looking at Timken but there are so many sizes and part numbers it gets confusing....help!

Moog and Timken are really good. I used Timken on my 8.8, in fact I just got thru having them pressed on.

Autozone sells Timken bearings, but make sure you ask specifically for Timken Part # 5707. Otherwise you'll get a National brand, they sell the same bearing and have the same part number. I've been told that Timken has bought out National but haven't been able to confirm it.

Just a pointer in case you are not familiar with the rear wheel bearing setup on our cars. The bearings actually ride on the axle shaft and damage to the shaft is not unheard of. Be sure to check the shaft for galling and excessive wear. Is there any reason in particular that you are changing the bearings?

Also if you are putting new gear oil dont forget to add the additive to the fluid.
