My night kind of sucked. Started with swapping out the fuse in the garage door opener and fixing some loose siding on the lower garage. After that, I was going to swap out a leaky ball valve that feeds our wash hose in the garage. I went into the basement to shut off the feed to the garage and the handle on the ball valve twisted right off and created an instant leak right over our furnace. I went and shut off the main valve and then the feed to that run before cutting out the old valve and unscrewing it from the pipe. I then installed a union in an accessible area but ended up with a pin hole on the back top side. I couldn't get the water out of the pipe to resolder it. I finally found a hanger up over the furnace that I took down and got just enough down angle on the pipe that the water ran out of it. Took almost an hour and a half to replace the valve and get the water back on to the west side of the house. Arrggghhh.

I couldn't tell you how long I heated it before the solder would flow on the second go around. Nice thing is I had all the parts and fittings I needed without making a trip to Lowe's. I do need to add some threaded couplers to the stockpile though -- would have made the job a whole bunch easier.

Looking like a nice day. Hopefully heading south by 1:00 or so to work on the Beaver house again. First thing I'll have to do is uncover the air conditioner once we arrive... going to be a bit warm this weekend.
