how old are you? Because luck tends to run thin on shit like this as you get older. If it were me and I had it to do all over again I would've pulled them when I was younger before they got to be a problem. Chances are they'll get you at some point and they serve no real purpose by being left in.

After 29 years one of my wisdom teeth decided to erupt. When it did, it was in a manner not so conducive to daily eating. After a couple weeks it split in half and caused unbelievable pain. I could not even sleep because of it. I was out of contract at the time so no insurance and I had to make an appt to get it taken out. They made me wait 3+ days for the appt. I was able to sleep an hour or 2 at a time by slathering it with the strongest numbing tooth agent out there. Once it was out though I was like a new person.
It wasn't until years later when I had the rest of my wisdom teeth out. I had gone in and was scheduled for some other non-related oral surgery that they pointed out my other wisdom teeth. Apparently they had all impacted against my 2nd molars and caused decay from trapped material I would never have been able to get to. So they advised for me to remove them as well. So I ended up getting 12 teeth pulled at once.
It was interesting since I happened to be only the second person he ever had to put an IV in. I grinned hard for about 45 minutes as I tried not to jump out of the chair and beat this guy with a blunt object as he stuck me 18 times trying to find a vein.
All I remember after that is waking up in the middle and trying to talk with a mouth full of medal crap. Didn't seen to want to stop me though. They had to up the doage. That happened twice more before the end.
In the end they presented me with a tray of teeth and asked if I wanted them. I told them of course and took the bloody bundle home. I woke up sever days later wondering why I had a horror show on my kitchen counter...

sounds kinda like my trip to get mine out....they must've misjudged my dosage because I started coming out of it during the middle of it. It's very foggy but I remember threatening pretty much everyone in the room and them scrambling to get me another pill, more people to hold me down, and calling my wife back to try and calm me down. Good times.

I don't recall ever being violent with them. Just trying to be chatty while he was trying to get a job done. I think they severely under estimated my body type as everyone does. I tried to tell them but they ignored it.

Orion i'm 22, but I have such a strong feeling that your right. I'm gonna go in again and they're gonna tell me that they need to come out. Then i'll probably get dry socket, and shit will hit the fan. I shouldn't have taken that feeling for granted when I was told by the Oral Surgeon I was good, cause god knows what i'm gonna experience down the line.
Jon damn dude! Good thing you didn't feel anything..how was recovery?

I don't remember it hurting too bad afterwards. He gave me some pain pills, but honestly I stopped taking them after a few days. I'm not big on that stuff. I was probably 28 or so. I'm pretty pain tolerant though. I've experienced way worse things...broken bones, dislocated shoulder 3x, kidney stone, etc. Kidney stone takes the cake by far.

I never had drysocket... I don't think. Just had them pulled. I never went to sleep just numbing shots which are by far the worst part of the whole process. I also got gassed just because I wanted to know what it felt like but I was awake for the whole thing. I remember the dentist wrenching on my head hardcore and when he would stop wrenching I would feel like he was wrenching because of the gas. The dentist noticed this and said to me "are you ok", I said "yes" as best I could with a mouth full of fluid and tools, then he looked at the gas machine and said turn up the oxygen.

I had them knock my ass out...I told the surgeon that I had issues with having to be over medicated because my mouth would not numb like others. I remember him standing over me saying "3, 2, 1" and BOOM...it was lights out. Next thing I knew I was waking up with 4 teeth gone.

Mine were surgically removed as well. Pretty much as Patrick described... only they had me countdown from 10. I may have made it to 7 and then I was out until the recovery room.

my dad "step dad" literally passed 32 stones in one month about a year ago and then he passed about 10 per month after that for 6months...he went to 5 different specialists and not one could tell him why or how it happened. He was passing so many that he was passing stones that most people physically could not pass...the guys at Vanderbilt were stumped too. He still passes one every once in a while...he could instantly tell when he was about to pass one because his back would start hurting and his temperature would go through the roof "his body was reacting to the stone". He would then start chugging fluids and about 10-15mins later he'd pass a stone...the doctors thought he was crazy until he brought them a pill bottle full of stones and they were all shocked.
I know of at least 5 times where he had to have minor surgery and they blasted stones...and that was all within a matter of months. He completely changed his diet, quit dairy products, stopped eating meats...nothing helped it.
Currently he's adapted a vegetarian style diet and he doesn't have them nearly as often...maybe once in a blue moon. To this day they "doctors" still do not know how or why it happened.Last edited by theorangeguy; 01-02-2014 at 02:08 PM.
