Electrical Issue

1999 Trans Convert. - Driving along today and lost my gauges. Still have radio, windows, etc. After stopping, would not start. Able to bump start it and get it home. What connections / fuse would effect gauges and starter together? Thanks!

I'd look at the battery and the ground connections 1st.

Ok - Battery tested out fine. I found 6 grounds, one on each fenders, two on the radiator support, one near the alternator (2 wires), one from the starter the block. All brushed down to shiny metal and refastened. Still the same problem. What could I be missing? Any other grounds?

there is one more ground just under the fuse box inside the cabin.

Not finding that one - is it under the dash beneath the fuse box or the screw on the side of the dash when you take the fuse box door off? Someone suggested to me today that the Monsoon stereo systems caused some problems with electrical systems. Anyone else hear of that?

There is another ground on the back of the driver side head. Have you gone through both fuse panels?

IIRC it is under the carpet near the fuse box.

I had the exact same problem today after working on my car...I got mine going by adding a 2nd ground from the battery negative to the same location it grounds to from the factory about 8 inches away. I sanded the paint off the sheet metal, applied di-electric grease and bolted the new ground on first---underneath the ground stud. I haden't installed the Racetronix ground strap till that happened. Has been working fine since.

Thanks for all the feedback, gentlemen. I did finally find the problem (I think). It appears that my turn signal lens was leaking and shorted out blowing a fuse. Went through my fuses before, but somehow missed it (dang new tri-focals!). Anyway, new light socket and bulb, fuse and running good as new. The good news is all my grounds should be good for a while. Thanks, again.
