One point is definitely true...no automaker is going to honor a warranty on internal engine issues when you have made internal engine modifications. Can't blame Ford for that one. HOWEVER, the fact that they actually issued a TSB about this stuff tells me that they are more concerned than they expected to be. No one here can convince me that the guys who designed this motor had no idea it was going to be pushed to the limit by the majority of buyers. They knew it, and designed it with that in mind. This is no different than GM and the LS motors. These companies know the kinds of things we are going to do with these drivetrains (thus the reason that the brand new GT still has a solid rear instead of IRS), because we've been doing it for decades. What is the point of a TSB then? Only reason I can see is that Ford engineers are foreseeing a higher likelihood of internal engine failure on this new motor.
I can't believe we still have these bailout arguments going...was everyone on vacation last fall when Ford's bailout was exposed?

ALL THREE AMERICAN AUTOMAKERS GOT BAILOUTS!! This is not news, it's been known for some time now. You people who ride around saying "i'm not buying from government motors, i'm sticking with Ford" just sound like idiots. You are not a better person, you are contributing to the same greed bullshit that a GM customer is. Get over it. If you like Ford's vehicles better, good for you, but don't try to justify your purchase with some higher reasoning, because there is none. Our automakers all got fucked by bad management and an unfair market. It was bad, and it sucks that it came to this, but it's done. MOVE ON.

Our government does not have control over the federal reserve. So ford borrowed money from a private bank like the federal reserve that also has private investors.

...and ford realized that because of this, they could keep their bailout on the down low. So GM publicly borrowed billions to survive, while ford went out of its way to hide the money it took. Smart move, yes...but it certainly doesn't leave me inclined to view ford in a more positive light.

Seems to be hit or miss with the 5.0hhh. There's guys with blowers on them not having any probs and then there's the guys with an intake/tune blowing out #8. Ford nailed the 3.7 though damn things are doing mid 13's at low 100's with intake/tune. I don't believe the 31 hwy claim but whatever.

I actually would like to see Ford run a Stang with IRS like the 03/4 Cobras. The 03/4s looked evil with the low stance.

How does it make ya wonder? People are putting their own tunes and SCT tunes while the car is still under the warranty period, why should ford have to absorb the financial strain of blown engines because people are fucking with tunes? That wasnt how the car left the lot and how it was designed by the factory. This applys to any carmaker. out of warranty, modify all you want. Plain and simple warranty is to cover factory defects and failures that occur under the warranty period. A bad tune or too aggressive a tune is NOT a defect.

However, if people are experiencing failures on stock engines, and stock manual transes and all these issues, ford needs to make it right. Its dissappointing because Ford really worked hard designing the new 5.0. The torture tests they did on this motor really surprises me that the same cylinder likes to burn out so much

Ford will. Believe me. Ford and Mazda have BOTH been sued for shit like this. Ford for overstating the, I think, 98-99 Cobras' horsepower and Mazda for reflashing the PCMs on older RX-8s, downgrading the horsepower. I don't think Ford wants more bad press.

Auto manufacturers get sued all the time. Recalls only happen if they think potential law suits and warranty repairs will cost more than recall repairs
