Rear end cover leaking
So my rear end cover is leaking. Should I just replace the gasket or should I put the TA Performance Rear end Girdle?
I don't and won't have the money any time soon to replace the rear with a 12 bolt/9" so I have to figure out a way to preserve this one for the time being.....

has the car been lifted using the rear? If you lift the car with the rear you have to be careful that your jack doesn't rest on that cover or it'll bend it causing a leak. If it's bent I'd say replace it with the cover.....if it's not bent then I'd just replace the gasket. Both jobs are pretty easy.

Hasn't been lifted by the rear that I know of. I'll most likely just get the gasket, red rtv and refill it. Thanks for the response

Gasket and RTV like you said, I would think that would stop any leaking.

Okay from the search I did I found that people either use 75w90 or 75w140. What brand is normally used and what do people use to get the oil into the rear?
I have a 2002 Camaro Z28 6 speed with 3.42's. I'm pretty sure this is the torsen unit, so that means I don't need the limited slip additive...correct?

I use any dino 80/90 and one bottle GM limited slip additive. I don't use a gasket on the cover either, just a bead of black silicone around it.

I just change out my rear bearings and used 75w90 gear oil
and on the cover just used black silicone no gasket
and that turned out fine
