2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
All of mine are out. Dentists have told me my molars are huge. I have some toe curling horror stories about them being taken out too. I'll get back with details for the voyeuristic sadists among you tomorrow.
A minor "horror story" note: Top left had to be split into 4 parts to be extracted. The military only uses Novicane. The pain and pressure was excruciating.

I'm 30 and still have mine. Between work, travel for work, and my wife's schooling (now complete) I haven't had time to take a week off. If I can manage to get away from work for a week, it's to do something fun like vacation with the kids, not sit in my bedroom slurping ice cream.

Huh? You shouldn't need a week off. I had mine done under local anesthetic for some reason, thus avoiding some potential horror. I felt fine the next day, though I didn't go in to work (maybe it was a Saturday or I had no job). I was eating normally within a few days. People fear important dental work too much.

My guess is they are coming in crooked and are impacted. The last wisdom tooth to come in for me came in crooked and was bearing upon an adjacent tooth with sufficient pressure to eventually crack it. I have no doubt that is the pain you're experiencing. It (the adjacent 2nd molar) broke when I was chewing on a piece of ice. I ended up having the impacted wisdom tooth and adjacent 2nd molar pulled as the 2nd molar was broke below the gum line and wasn't saveable.
Continuation story from above: The wisdom tooth they had split to have removed occured while I was in the Army. They removed the upper and lower on my left side at the same time. Imagine this: Late at night, dentist pounding on your tooth with a hammer and chisel, pulling pressure with cracking noises, dentist with 1 foot up on the chair swearing under his breath. It was like something from "Little Shop of Horrors" (the newer one). That ended up in a dry socket infection. The left side of my face swelled up to twice it's size. Took 3 weeks to heal properly. I have no doubt this is the cause of my TMJ on my left side.
The lower extraction healed no problem, as did the lower right when it was pulled a year later (I was between 21 and 23 when this took place).
The last molar finally erupted 20 years ago when I was ~35. the cracked tooth happened between then and when it finally broke 2 years ago. The extraction of both teeth went without a hitch.

Oh, and 67RS, I've had 12 teeth pulled in my lifetime. 11 with novacaine. I've heard the chipping sounds as pliers crack off bits of tooth. The crunching in your jaw as the roots give way. I've had teeth come out in pieces. I've had the dentist get on the chair for better leverage. You can't scare me. On the plus side, the last one I was like 14 or 15. So I was really young for the first ones and hot dental assistants always held my hand. SCORE!

i still have mine, but i will be getting them out soon. I have been reading that wisdom teeth can get infected more often than you know about, and when the bacteria from the infection gets into your blood stream, it can effect your thyroid gland, which controls your metabolism and energy distribution. The bacteria also can weaken your heart over time.

I still have mine. The top ones are in like normal teeth, but the bottoms are completely horizontal. Dentist told me years ago to have them removed, but I said fuck it! They don't bother me. Sometimes my jaw pops really bad when I open my mouth real wide, but I've learned to live with it. Besides, oral surgery is expensive and my insurance only covers a fraction of the cost. I'll get them out when I get my free Obama Care.....

Only had to have one taken out after 21, top right. They said that often they won't give trouble until your over 23.
The rest of mine haven't erupted so I don't expect any trouble out of them.
