    Decision making help.

Hey evryone I need a little help making up my mind. I have a 2000 z28 ls1. I have heads off engine due to blown head gasket issue. I am installing bbk shorty headers when I put it back together. My question is I want to send my ecm off for a tune. The tuners say they can eliminate the egr and air systems. Should I eliminate these 2 systems? Anyones thoughts would be greatly helpful. Also where is the best place to send ecm to for tuning?

If you want a mail order tune then frost is the guy, go to sponsors on top of the page and you should see his name. I don't know your smog laws so if they don't check for air/egr then it is a nice way to clean up the bay. You have an ls-6 manifold or are you just going to plug the hole?

I would say it all depends on how Tenn. is with emissions. If theyre like Florida then I say do away with the egr and air. Also, why the shorties? Why not long tubes? If its because u wanna keep the cats then maybe you should just keep the rest of the emissions stuff too.

We have smog laws in my county, but they just scan the ecm, they don't do physical inspection. Wil the engine perform ok without the egr system?

No EGR on our car from the factory. I did delete the secondary air system and sent the PCM to Frost for a mail order tune. Like said above, depends on the emissions law in your state and what you want to do with the car. Here is a write up on ditching the secondary air system: http://www.ls1.com/forums/showthread.php?t=130641

yes it will. I did this and had Frost reflash the PCM. The car started and ran 100% normal. You'd never know its gone.
