like I keep trying to say .. its not about which car is faster .. this thread is about which one will have the least quirks

That will play out in time, GM and Ford have been around for a long time and they have all had problems, it's a guess.

Yea .. it started out as SS and GTO .... I just wonder if the SS will inherit all the GTO key and ignition woes ...

Hopefully GM learned from the problems with the GTO and have most of the quirks worked out.
I guess I'm one of the lucky ones, the only problem I've had with my 04 was the bushings premature wear that was easily fixed with poly bushing swap

Talked to a guy that has a completely stock red G8 down at the track a few times and he had not said anything about any problems. Running a best of 13.2 10xmph and his car scaled out at 41xx lbs, that's not a bad time for a heavy ass car. I'd love to see a 2 door and Elcamino version make it over here.

I wonder if some of the problems the GTOs had was due to salt air or something during shipping (think old rusty Toyotas)

I've been lucky with my 06, only problem I had was alignment { knock on wood}.

Only problems I have had in the almost 2 years of owning mine were the water pump, radiatior and diff. But my car is a daily so it's to be expected.

extreme dimensions, driveshaft shop, harrop, hid(35watt/6k) lows, hurst, k&n, led fogs, maverick man, mishimoto, nitto, revshift, slp, stern st-1, smoked sidemarkers, whiteline poly radius rod bushings

Meh. When ya turn wrenches for a living, there isn't much to worry about.
