I got a friend he hunts with a Thompson contender and that things got a bang to it, nice pistol.

I use a traditions muzzle loader a lot of times during gun season. Just depends on my mood and if I'm sitting or traveling. If I'm going to move a lot I'll carry the shotgun but if I plan on sitting I'll use the muzzle loader. It's a cheaper muzzle loader that my buddy bought me for x-mas one year but it's damn accurate once I figured out the powder situation. I wouldn't think twice about a 125-150 yard shot with that thing but the woods I hunt in 99% of my shots will be at 70 or less.

I guess.... I read some pretty idiotic shit that people do here. Senseless deaths. Last year or year before last a guy shot a deer just before it got light....only it wasn't a deer. It was a guy taking his 10 year old son bow hunting. Kid watched his dad die. No sense in that kinda shit. If it's dark then you don't shoot....just that simple. Your eyes play tricks on you in the woods so you damn well better be aware of what you're shooting at.

Their relatives must still be around these parts. They do a lot of deer drives here too which I'd never even heard of until I moved up here. Most dangerous way of hunting there is. There will be 30 or more guys come through a ridgeline and start driving and it sounds like world war 3. Scares the hell out of me. You'll be sitting there and people will come walking by you on all sides. They had no idea I was there so if a deer ran between me and them they'd be shooting right at me and not even know it.
I also don't walk into and out of the woods unless it's full light or full dark during gun season. I will usually go in an hour before most people are even out of their beds and get set up and then I'll come out long after the last jackass has went home. That dawn and dusk time is dangerous to be moving around.

Yeah but when I'm sitting against a tree or in a thicket that makes no difference.

I dunno that orange is pretty brite, hard to miss. For some reason I'm picturing you poping up like a jack in the box when a deer goes by..

Everyone I know that goes hunting out this way says the same thing about the orange. Doesn't really stand out and like Orion says distinguishing things at dawn and dusk is tough
