deer from my treestand
Took a couple pictures with my camera phone so the quality sucks. I'm gonna start carrying a regular digital camera up there with me to snap pics of the deer I won't shoot. I circled these so you can tell where they are.
These were 2 small bucks that came in this morning and hung out for about 45 minutes. The 6 point bedded down but the 4 point kinda knew something was up for a while so he never laid down. He did relax after a bit though and started feeding around my stand. Hard to gauge the distance from the pics but the deer that's bedded down is between 15-20 yards from me.
Saw a total of 6 deer. 2 other small bucks and 2 doe that came in right at dark and it was too dark to shoot them. The doe's came to within 10 yards of my stand and I could see them but just barely at 10 yards and definitely too dark to shoot. They ended up busting me and tore ass out of there.

federal forest here so it's free. I wish I had a better camera and I wish I had pics of the first 2 small bucks. One of them bedded down also but he was just a little spike. The first set came almost directly under me. I never thought then to snap a pic with my phone...would've been a little easier to make them out as they were within 3 yards of my tree.

I keep it turned off. I only have 1 stand I get reception out of so normally it's not an issue.
nope....too small and too early in the season. We're only allowed 1 buck and it sucks to take a smaller buck early in the season and then have a nice one come by you later in the year. Been there....done that.

I almost made a hunting thread. Had it all typed out, and then Xed it out for some reason. I need to take pictures of my blind. My buddy shot a dow 3 days ago, and already wants to come back out.
That was the second time we went out this year. Lots of land back there, full of deer.
Cross bow is legal this year also.

can't rifle hunt in Ohio...thank god. I'd love to be able to use a rifle but only if I were the only person in the state allowed to do so.
These yankee's can't get through a shotgun season without killing each other and people not even hunting. I can only imagine the death toll if they had rifles instead of shotguns. I use my 50 cal muzzle loader during the gun season but it's no where near the same as a 30/30.
yep........

well, you can gun hunt but not rifle hunt. Shotguns and muzzle loaders basically. You can use a pistol which is why my buddy bought a .45 colt last summer. Either way, if you read the hunting accidents here you'd understand why they don't allow rifle hunting. I've seen some ignorant shit done that was uncalled for. One year a guy was shooting across a highway at a deer and killed someone passing by in a car....just no sense in that.
