Removing door molding...

To remove the door molding, do i just pull them off? Will i damage the paint around them if i do this? After i get them off i just have to remove the adhesive stuff right?

most people use some fishing line. Don't just pull off 'cos some have also ripped off some of the paint underneath.

We just did a friend's T/A last night. We just pulled them off and rolled the glue with our fingers.

Sticker remover and wash. All good.

Roll all the glue off with your fingers before applying the dreaded adhesive remover or you will have mudd or sticky buggers.

That's how I did it. Took about 15 min. a side.

I waited until the sun was beating down on the car for a few hours.
Took them off by hand.
If the sun isn't available, hair dryer should help.

As for removing the leftover adhesive, I used 3M adhesive remover and then polished and waxed the area where they used to be. Actually be a good time to polish and wax the whole car.

I'm in the process of removing my door molding I got the passenger side done tonight before I ran out of daylight gonna finish the drivers side tomorrow its definitely easier when the sun is aiding you. Other than that just use your thumbs they will hurt like a mother the next day but its well worth it.

Looks great! All i needed was a hairdrier and i didnt even use it that much, my thumb did get a small blister though

Looks good. My strip on the drivers side has a small dent. Will that affect the removal of it? Has anyone else actually got a dent in the strips?

Haha thanks!! I hadnt noticed how its lined up pretty good

thats my first baby a 1989 Firebird Formula and if you look at the left edge of the pic you can see the torq thrust wheel and a piece of my 98 T/A too

and she's next in the door molding removal

yea i got too many projects!! I wanted to sell the 98 but i couldnt bring myself to put "for sale" on it so instead ill let her chill for a little and make her hit 10's later

... and nope i dont plan to marry not unless tep wants too?

I was afraid of that too, so i did the front small piece first and looked for any color differences or shading or something.. do the small piece first so if there is color difference then i could just put it back with some 3m.
