Id save my money unless you have a big cubic inch motor,I have the l92 stock heads mind you on my 408 with the ls7 intake car runs same as it did last year with stock ls2 and afrs at about same boost levels, but I also have a FI cam,now though its less compression, heads flow better, and are way cheaper then the AFRs.I have a few freinds running that intake on a ls1 they cant get out of the 12s,102 intake& throttle body custom tuned by one of the best in the country,so its not a tune issue, car MPH is not there as well it spins taking off, just not a good combo on a small cubed motor.IMO

I guess a motor can only take so much in, but I'm sure given some time there will be some lucky nut job out there with more money than me that can make use of the extra flow avalible. if I ever win the lotto! lol
have you seen or read about the big 500+ci (uses a deck plate and pressed in sleeves) basicly the NEW mountain motor......maybe it would show the wanted gains there

I also have only seen minimal gains with the L92 heads on a stock LS2. Now all I have seen have been with stock or very mild cam swaps. So not sure what you can get with a proper matching set-up.

I'm still contemplating L92 heads or sticking with the 243s but CNC ported and polished. That would get my stock heads to the same volume as the stock L92s but you wouldn't know by just looking at the stock casting number hehe.

The stock LS2 243's are already quite large especially compared to the stock LS1 241 castings. How much air can a 4.000 bore breath haha? I agree these would be best for larger displacements. I plan on stroking to 4.125" so these might be coming if the power isn't enough out of CNC'd 243's. We will see!

They are cheap though and I like that!!!

yup I ported the hell out of my 241's and was amazed at just how big the pile of metal was when I finished (it helped having a cut down head section laying there so I knew exactly where and how much to take out)

When you buy aftermarket heads its just the available GM castings that are CNC & milled but with one hell of a substantial markup!

There is a machine shop nearby called Gunthers that has a great rep. They build race engines for several local teams so I'm just going to have them do all my machining. If only I had my own garage with a bridgeport, lathe, bore machine, and cam lathe. Oh a boy can dream can't he....

ok, I have a strange question.
I know it would be slightly more restrictive, but could you put smaller seats and valves in the ls7 head to just clear the smaller bore of the 5,7 and still have a super high flowing head?

i truely dont know..but i dont see the point of nurturing a prize bull..will it still be better then the weak bulls..yes..but it wont be anything like its old self..plus the valves are a work of art..titanium(exhaust) and sodium filled(intake) ..i might be backwards

not all of the l92s are filled with all of those goodies the cheaper ones came on suvs and such and did not have the sodium filled valves,I would think that if you were to put in smaller valves they would hinder the flow,Im no head expert,I will say that with the stock ls2 and a set of AFR 205s i ran last year, what Im now running with cheeper l92s less compression 9 to 1 and a blower cam car is really close, being I now have a 100lb heavier trans and less compression,my car went 103 with 12 psi, last year with old setup, thats more compression and 3 more pounds of boost i went 106 in the 1/8 with built 4l65e. The heads flow better but at what trade off,if I had a ls1 id just get me a cheap set of 243 ls2 castings and a ls2 intake best bang for the buck,IMO.
