Corvette C5 rims on 99 Z28?

I have some C5 Corvette rims(the thin spoke ones, F 245/45/17, R 275/40/18), and tried to put them on my 99 Camaro Z28.
My question is how do you get the rear tires/rims to fit? I was told that they would fit, but it hits on the front/inside portion of the wheel opening, and it seems to hit the bump stop also.
This was while at a shop with the rear axle hanging.

they will go right on and be fine. on one of my cars, i had to massage the inner fenderwell in the rear front portion where the trailing arm is to clear the tire. hitting the bumpstop is only because it is hanging in the air. once you put the car on the ground, it'll clear.

its my understanding that on maros a little mroe work at times could be needed compared to the bird on larger rim/tire packages ..but ^ mrr23 is right

I had to lift my from the axle and the rims fit just find without rubbing.
