Last year I cut my losses in the stock market with my IRA at %15 paid off my loans. As soon as the gov got involved and started to bail out everyone i bailed. Taxes are going to go through the roof, rather pay now then pay 35% 20 years from now. Instead of borrowing and spending I cleaned up my balance sheet.

That is the only advantage to not making much money!! We got back almost $3,700. That sucks though, we got hit with that last year, my wife had 2 extra part time jobs & they didn't take hardly anything out that them for taxes!

I'm getting a little over $900 back from fed and a little over $100 from state. I was hoping for more, but, when you're single, the gov't taxes you out the ass. But, I am waiting for the property tax check next. Will sit in the bank to acquire interest.

Big tax returns are a negative return, not income or a windfall. You should try to break even or even pay at the end of the year (like you are now), not provide the gov't with an interest free loan.
It's your money. Put it to work for YOU, no matter how much or how little.

me and my wife got $4500 from fed and $1300 from state. was afraid we weren't going to get the state refund b/c of lack of funds. they announced that checks were to be withheld for a little while until people started paying in their taxes, then refunds would be mailed out. i got lucky as we filed before that announcement
