He comes across as pre-2000 "LS1" blocks areL92's and those are the only aluminums.... and that post 200 "LS1" blocks aren't aluminum thats why you can bore them cuz the magical green fairy allows it to work perfect, this magical green fairy also works at sealpower....

Let's get this straight I am not a retard and if you where standing in front of me you never would said that. I came on here with good intentions but you blew that. As for me being mixed up I am not the one. A ls1 block can be bored .020 over Sealpower has pistons for it. A l92 block has a 4.065 bore and can also be bored over. You have to find a shop with a good boring machine not the old type that just sat up on top. I have worked hard over the year to gain the respect of others and I am not just starting out I put my first motor together when I was 17 and I am 46 now and there has been too many to count. There is a daily driver in S.C. that is and has been driving around for quite some time that is bored .020 over. I though this site was for people to ask questions and get different opinions not for people to just gang up and force their opinions on others. There are many good ideas out there, just think first before you are so critical.

Were not being critical, were being truthful. It isnt a wise idea and you come on here telling us 2000 or later models can be bored...

, a motor is electric.

Sorry guy, but id rather spend my hard earned money on something that will last and be quiet safe then bore something over too much and risk it comming out the side of the block, rupturing a fuel line and loosing my car.

Actually I probably would have, ppl tell me I'm "brutally honest" all the time... Sure you can bore an Ls1 no prob

noone is disputing that fact, and sure someone may take advantage of people doing this and sell a kit for it to an uninformed person, just as easy, but winchester also makes a 300 short mag, that you could use on your engine too, (fastest way to "port" your restrictive stock oil pump) but thats probably not the best things to do, yet having the same outcome.... No one is forcing you to do anything, you asked if anyone had done or had known the outcome of boring an Ls1 block, we told you what you didnt want to hear, sorry for that...

btw what is the difference between a 1999 LS1 and a 2000 LS1?

I really would like to know, that way if needed i could buy a 99 block since they are better.

From what I understand the early blocks didn't have as thick of sleve also shops where useing old type boring and boring to side of bore. A shop with a 90 deg. boring machine should be able to do this. Lets get back to helping and ask why do you want to bore a LS1 block? If you want a bigger bore there is the LS2 and L92 -LS3 block. If you are looking for HP stroke it you will be better off.If you have scared cyl. you can save the block by boring.

I had a cylinder get scared once. Apparently the others dressed up like zombies and ganged up on it. Wasnt a pretty sight.

all LS1 blocks are the same.... now if your getting into some of the 01 and 02 cars some did come with what i believe we like to refer to as a LS6 block....

but yes you are better off boring another style block... but unless you plan on selling somone a lemon, boring a LS1 after its been scarred is a bad idea... Yes i realize you "can" do it, but you "can" also try to run diesel in your car.... doesnt mean its good for it....
