What cam with stock heads?
I will be getting a cam, headers and a stall this fall, what cam can I run with good results using stock heads. This is not a track car, but I want the added power that a good cam gives if you need it.I am also thinking about a intake also. What price am I looking at purchasing these parts. I delieve the stock lifters will be ok, I only have 37,955 miles on the engine. What size stall? the car have 323 gears in rear.keep in mine that this is my weekend criuser not weekend racer. Also give me some prices so I can get and ideal of what I will be out of.

I'm getting ready to do cam, springs, push rods and maybe headers on my fathers 2000 c5 A4 with similar miles as you. Might be adding my 243's heads, LS6 intake and 3200-3600 stall later on.
Its was also mentioned that I should add a new timing chain and updated oil pump while I'm there. Also degreeing in a cam is a must in my mind so a timing set is needed.
I work at a custom cam shop and was speced a 224/230 .595/.595 113 LSA with custom profiles for his car. It should leave a little on the table for the later mods I mentioned. I think it will run well enough with out them.

the perfect "street fighter" set up is a 228/228 cam, 3000-3500 stall, long tube headers and LS6 intake.
a cam kit costs around $700
long tubes and y pip $550
tci stall, shift kit and cooler $700-800.
used ls6 intake about $300
while doing the cam, you should get a new ls2 timing chian which is about $40 and a ported oil pump.2000 nhra edition formula

Call Cam Motion or Comp. and tell them exactly what you want and need out of the cam. That is the only correct way to do it. Going off someone else's opinion can get un-wanted results. A custom ground cam is going to run you VERY close to the same price as a universal off the shelf cam.
I also would stay away from TCI's con. I have had NO luck with them over the years. I would recommend Daaco for your con. and I wouldn't go any higher than 2800-3200.
Headers there are MANY choices.
PLEASE remember this one point I'm making to you. I build cars for a living and have been in this hi performance area for 15 years now and the one thing I have learned is you get what you pay for. $300 headers are not worth the headaches of bottoming out and changing header gaskets due to shitty flanges.Don't be afraid of the bottle!!! Be afraid of your tune!!!
