Fuel Pump: drop tank or make access panel?
I've been having fuel issues and my tuner can't tune my car to it's potential until i get more fuel. So i'm going to swap the fuel pump and probably the fuel filter again just in case. I don't know if there is much more i can do. is it easier to take out the back seat and cut through the metal to access it from the top or should i just drop the tank? is there a write up on how to make an access point for the fuel pump?

i just found a write up on ls1tech that tells you how to cut the metal above the tank. my dad and i think it will be easier. we will still empty the tank as much as possible and we have a very powerful air compressor to blow out any sediment.
if i were to take it out, how do you recommend cleaning it?

no argument sorry Luos... may an access port, if you do it properly its not bad at all and then you can re-access your fuel pump in very little time if something goes wrong again... much better decission...
no one will ever know its there... much better decission... if the day comes for my car I know exactly which course I'm taking...

hmmm, my dad didn't recommend using water... to each his own i guess. i know what you mean about cutting it up... but my car is nothing special especially since i just past 72K! i like the idea of making an access door so it's much easier next time. my friend said his prelude came with one from the factory as most cars do. but as you all know, GM doesn't keep convenience in mind

That part of the car is support. No way would I cut it.
I cleaned out my tank with water. Dried it out, and then let it sit for a few hours upside down.
Once the 'bucket' the pump is in is removed, the tank is nothing but plastic.
Just because something is easier, doesn't make it the right way to do it.

I'd have to agree with Luos. I would NEVER EVER cut a hole just to make it a little easier...

i just hate how most other cars have these trap doors stock. i also don't need as much support as Mr. Luos does with 531 rwhp. I won't have numbers like that for years! my dad is also great with doing things like this and he'll probably figure something out to keep the structural integrity.
