Based on what I have seen from central NJ police:
1) The ability to enforce laws you have no idea how to follow yourself (speeding, stop signs, cell phones while driving)
2) The ability to know everyone is typically your friend cause you can get them out of a ticket
****no offense to any LEOs in this forum- just based on my observations...you might be a fine cop....got any more of those nice little get out of ticket free cards??????****

Half of all the marijuana you confiscate is legally yours. Look it up, 10% finders fee, 10% to test authenticity, 20% to double check and then re-check the double check of authenticity.

[QUOTE=stephen02ws6;1496621]Ya there are some stupid laws out there. I would be a nice cop unless the person is a dick. Do you have any regrets not going into the military?
yea sometimes I am like damn I should have joined. I feel like it would have fit me well. On the other hand I am married now and she couldnt handle it if I was to go away to war. I would say that if I was still single right now I would probably join, I am 26.....the thing about being a cop is that there is sooo much that is required of you to become one it doesnt make sense to just quit if you hate it....that how i feel at least. Also I have thought about just doing the Nat Guard but either way I would prob get shipped off and if I did the army thing I would want to be a marine

you don't need a degree in most small rural towns...most state patrols are requiring some sort of degree...doesn't nessesarily matter what its in...i graduated with my bachelors in criminal justice then enlisted to the airforce with a secret security clearence to better help build my resume, if you'd like to get involved with swat or k9...you usually have to wait around and wait for your turn...its a how much time have you put in and senority kinda thing that usually takes the picks...you don't get to justs sign right up for swat...or any other speciality field.

Hey the state trooper deal, isn't all that bad, i tried to get in when i graduated college, but the funds were backed up due to katrina...college bills were pilling up so decided to enlist, and the mil. is paying off all my school loans...I talked to the various depts. fbi,us marshals, state po-po at a career fair, we had on campus...the statey guy described to me how his day started...
walked to his car...when he woke up....radio'd to the office hat he was on...went inside..ate breakfast got dressed, then drove out to a spot and sat...geez, cake!
and what bs laws are you guys talking about having to enforce? speeding? when a guy is doin 120 blows a tire and hits an innocent mother and child, you'd think twice that the law is bs...or seatbelts...seeing people thrown through their windshields and brains plattering on the pavement...its all there for a reason, including drug laws, i don't have issues with the users that have drug issues in an effort to deal with their problems...everybody has their own coping ways...but the dealers that push on kids, that'll get me fired up...anyway i'll probably go Fed, when i get out of the mil, if that doesn't work state po-po for sure.

actually both...the city usually uses there swat more frequently for any sort of drug bust they deem necessary....stateys use'em for more high profile type cases...i.e. bank robberies...hostage situations...etc. etc.

Its kind of hard if you dont have the history, but heres how to sum it up.
First, you have to make sure that in high school you get your ass kicked most of the week. Getting made fun of for random reasons work too, just as long as your ego is stomped. Allow this to pile up for years, never dishing it out. Secondly, never try to get any girls and if you do, make sure they are fat or boring. This will enable you to fuel your social anxiety which helps program your future robotic nature. Basically, while youre in high school, just reach high enough in the social and academic ladder that you just take hold of mediocrity.
Once thats established, dont ponder the thought of going to college unless its community college and make sure to focus on criminal justice. Once you get here, youll find crowds of the same people that went through the same training you did in high school. There will be an occasional person that might seem like another person that will make fun of you cuz hes actually funny and smart. Truly, this guy doesnt belong there, but hell end up being better than you in almost every way. Luckily, he usually doesnt last. This type of person usually finds a higher paying job OR he gets promoted rapidly. Let me point out that he can also be a she.
Now that you got that squared away, grow a mustache. This doesnt have to happen immediately, and to be honest, usually doesnt until years and years of not doing shit in a patrol car, but at the very least get a crew cut.
Wha-la! Now youre a certified police officer! Dont forget to abuse your powers....no, I am sure you wont.
