Time to upgrade the TV.
I cannot stand playing my 360 on this little Emerson POS I have in my dorm. My parents got it for me as a Christmas present and for a while it did the job. But when it comes to gaming it is basically just one big let down. I really notice the difference when I go home and play my 360 on the 34 inch Wega in my room. With my new job at an electronics store and the ability to get a TV 5% above cost it is time to do some shopping. I'm looking for something in the 42-48 inch range (shooting for a 46), I prefer an LCD (not feeling the glass screen on a plasma), 1080p of course, and if I it fits into the budget one with a 120hz refresh. Budget is around $1800 and I am limited to what brands I can buy of course. (Toshiba, Samsung, Sony, LG, Mitsubishi, Sharp, and Sylvania). Any suggestions on what brands to shoot for? Damn near impossible to judge a TV in the store since their all stuck running a low grade single that has been split fifty times.

Ive alays heard LG,Panasonic and mitus. I have a 50"maxent and a 42" panasonic both plasma. If you using it for other than games look at the picture quality difference between hd content and no hd. In the stores thats all they show you if the hd stuff. I got mine home and was in for a surprise.

56" samsung 1080p DLP.
ill be the first to admit that a plasma or lcd is better than a dlp, but the bang/buck ratio is too good to pass up. all HD content looks great, regular tv isnt so good as an lcd or plasma, but for a flat panel the same size the price differential is ridiculous.
oh yeah, and video games on it will make you weak in the knees.

I always thought they said the picture was as good as a lcd. Any problems with the bulbs burning out? I was gonna get the LED dlp, because i heard the bulbs always burn out.

mines less than a year old, no problems. i was considering the led/bulb thing when i bought the tv. the led lones are new so i wasnt sure how theyd act, and they cost more. i jut figured i have the replacement plan, if anything happens after its up ill move on to something bigger and better.
