car of the year idea....
I know there's only gonna be 4 cotm winners this year but that's just the way it fell. Next year there will be 12. I still wanted to give this years winners the same chance next years winners will have.
I'm thinking about doing a "car of the year" poll where the forum votes on the years winners to have a car of the year that gets stickied for the year. Just wanted to see what you guys thought about that. I like the idea. I also don't care to have a bazillion stickies in a forum. The rides section is actually one of the lowest stickied forums on the board so I think it could support the sticky for the year without getting annoying. Let me know what you think.

My life is a- Ben Stiller movie.
i say hell yeah! but i think the COTM rules need to be defined before there's a COTY... people get caught up voting on what they know...some just vote on what they see. Luos has a well built ride and lost out 2wice so far b/c his pictures were
so i think there needs to be more clearly defined voting methods so no one says "i can't belive i was beat by a stock car"

Agreed, but it's gonna take a bit before this COTM is perfected. I was just thinking about a Car of the Year thing, so weird that you posted this at the same time
We should def do Car of the Year tho!

here's my definition of what a cotm is.
Strictly picture only. You can't see what's under the hood from a picture so if a picture of a stock car looks better than a stroked car it should win. I also think that it has more to do with the other stuff in the picture than just the car. How many pictures of an f-body have you guys seen?? Thousands right? It's the personal touch on the pics that creates a winner. Sweet ass rims doesn't hurt either.

I also think a cotm car should be just as appealing to someone that drives a minivan as it is to us. We all generally know each others cars on here. A cotm winner needs to be someone that my wife can look at and say "That's a nice car" or "that's a nice picture".
edit: For the record my wife doesn't drive a minivan, she'd kick my ass if I made people think she did.

I run stock rims too. Actually, I bought chrome T/A rims and sold my stock painted rims but you have to admit how good these cars look with some TT2's.

That is how they should vote.
Performance plays a role though. "Performance and Technical Information"
I set up the car of the month on another site...I was basicly looking for people to vote for the car they would most like to own.
Of course, I rarely had two of the same make entered.

yeah but who says appearance isn't a mod also or cleanliness for that matter. Not everyone builds a car for speed. I told my younger brother one time that having the money to build a fast car wasn't necessarily something he could control but keeping it clean and looking good was. It's like the great equalizer. You can make $15k a year or $115k a year and have equally clean cars. Not everyone can drop strokers in or spend thousands on mods so if you factor that into the contest it hurts a lot of people up front. Appearance at least gives those guys a chance.

Hmmmm...
Well, I would think "Car of the Year" would imply getting to know what is done to the car too... Its not called "Car Pic of the Year" you know? Just my opinion... I think each entry should get one(or 2) pics, and a predetermined amount of space to write a discription/mod list. And then we get to pick what one we like the best, period.
If we are going to nominate LS1.com's COTY you gotta go more than skin deep... COTY based on just looks?
Thats so...... ricer.........
Don't hate me for saying it, but that what I think.

I agree fully.
But as a few have mentioned...car of the year implies a little more than just appearance.
My mod list is large, but I also like to keep the car as clean as possible. I am not trying to snag an advantage. There are faster and more powerful cars on here than mine.
