im out of ideas
about a week ago my car started hesitating real bad, now when i am driving it, even at wot, it feels like i am letting off the gas. i dont really know how to explain it, but it will run just fine, then out of nowhere it starts doing it. i just changed the fuel filter and the spark plugs and wires are only a few months old. i just cant figure out what it is.
if you have any ideas or questions let me know.

now it seems as if it only does it when i turn right, it will do it all through straights after a right turn, then magically it will stop.

Did the injector cleaner make any difference?
If turning just one way causes it, it seems like it is a fuel flow problem. In the older T/A's ('70-80's) they used to have a sock filter in the gas tank itself...do the new ones also? If it does, that might be the problem. They had a tendancy to get clogged, or get sucked up into the line and cause hesitation like you are feeling.
Just a stab in the dark.

If it does that when you step on the gas pedal then it might even be your fuel pump. That happened to me a while back it felt like if it would go dead whenever i floored it!

The dreaded opti-spark maybe??? They have a notorious reputation.

I would go with MAF before anything, I don't think its the optispark from my experience I feel that they only tend to hesistate like that at very high rpms not down low. However, I'm also saying that because optispark is an expensive fix and i'd try a few other things first. good luck keep us up to date.

Your problem definitely sounds electronic in nature. Personally I have never worked on an OBD II LT1. But I did have a similar problem with my 89 GTA. I had changed the cam and went with a lingenfelter/accel plenum, runners, and intake manifold. A check engine light popped up and the code was for a burn off relay for the MAF. So I changed the relay, and not to soon after my MAF kicked the bucket. So I dropped the money and changed it. About three days after changing it I would get these sudden burst of hesitation when the car was cruising and when I held the RPMs at a constant level. The RPMs would oscillate, the worst thing was that there was no codes or engine light so, I had no clue to what was fouling out. So after checking for a vacuum leak and changing out O2 sensors, and TPI sensors I went back to the MAF sensor, went back to the parts store to find out that I was given a sensor calibrated for a 6 cylinder car. I went to a granatelli MAF sensor for a l98, a bear to adjust but a good product, and the car ran well. Honestly, I would check for a vacuum leak, and then go through your sensors, something has to be fouled up and giving the computer a wrong reading, I would even check your connection for your sensors make sure there is no corrosion in the wiring.

From what you're saying I dont think it's the MAF......to me I'd be leaning more towards the Opticrap. How longs it been since you did anything with it????? And since you live in a coastal city that nice salt air you have will do wonders on the opti.........take a look at that...
