Is my engine too old to mod???
hi i have a 2000 black z28 with 120000 miles on it and i have always wanted to mod it but haven't had the money yet but i was told it had too high of mileage and it would be bad to do any cam or head work or anything like that and that if i wanted to mod it i would basically have to drop a new engine? please let me know what you guys think.

Bullshit. Mod away. I would not turbo/blow/gas the thing due the bottom end. But heads/cam/headers/tune you bet.

one of the reasons he LSx is one of the best small blocks ever made....they're durable as hell. People way over 100k miles tracking their cars weekly.

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
1st things 1st though: Don't daily drive yer racecar and and don't race yer DD.
You do have another car, yes? Answering this Q will let you know how hard you can push your Z...
OTOH, 120,xxx miles is as nothing to an LS1 if it's been properly maintained. My 98 is at 182,xxx and it's my DD.

You'll know what shape your engine is in when you start to tear it down. Agree with others though. 120K isn't that high of mileage at all on these cars.
What is your budget?

Black- 2002 SS Camaro
I replaced my motor because it died, but i dont believe all camaros have these issues and I am replacing all the other stuff because I'm in school and I dont have to drive the car at all and since it has a new motor in it I want to enjoy it even more. But you can go 200,000 miles with heads and cam's its been done on this board before
