My stock rotors are rusted up and warped like all hell. Thinking about Brembo drilled & slotted w/ zinc plating front and back. Just wondering if they're quality rotors and how freakin hard it would be to get crossdrilled and slotted rotors cut once they start warping?

Brembo is to brakes is like Bilstein is to shocks - a high quality well made product good enough for Ferrari. I have the Brembo blanks (no drilling or slotting) front & rear on my car from Tire Rack and with over 10,000 + miles I've had no warping problems. I'm running ceramic pads all the way around, Akebono but EBC and Hawk make good ceramics also. Contrary to what someone else posted on this board, ceramics do run cooler than composite pads and dust less. Factory pads on the F-bodies are ceramic (GM DuraStop). Two words of advice: when you have the rotors replaced have the wheel nuts HAND TORQUED with a torque wrench to make sure that they're all tightened equally and not overtorqued. My wheel balance/alignment guy ALWAYS does it that way, and you see a lot of Porsches, Benz, Audis in his shop (all the big $$$$ cars) so he must be doing something right... I've been doing business with him exclusively for over 20 years. Before you put Brembo blanks on, paint the hub area of the rotor where the pad doesn't contact with a high temperature paint. If you don't, they'll rust up within a week and look like crap. It won't affect your brakes, it just looks bad because the rusty rotor is highly visible. Actually, the wheel nuts should ALWAYS be hand torqued. Drilling and slotting look cool, but for street use it's more trouble than it's worth and you won't see any appreciable gain in braking performance. Drilled/slotted rotors increase pad wear and brake noise, and a lot of manufacturers that make that type of rotor won't even guarantee their own products against warping or stress cracking.

with the zinc plating, they won't rust in the areas where the pads don't touch. i have a set of zinc plated cross-drilled and slotted rotors on both cars. and i do feel a difference after i put them on. all i did was swap the rotrs only. used the same pads.

as far as cutting the drilled and slotted rotors go, no different than cutting blanks. i've already turned mine once.

Yep, you're right. Brembo doesn't zinc wash their blank rotors, only the machined ones I think. Next time I rotate my tires I'm going to paint the hubs 'cuz they look that bad. Haven't warped yet, tho.

Oh, but I heard you need a special machine to cut drilled and slotted rotors. I guess I hear alotta BS tho.
