    o2 sensor

Can any one tell me which wire on the o2 sensor plug is the reference voltage and which one is the o2 sensor output.

I have an 02 WS6 Firebird, there are four wires. one looks purple, tan, brown, and black. I'm assuming the black is ground and I believe the brown is 12 volt for the sensor heater. SO I have it narrowed down to either the purple or the tan.

Anyone's help would be greatly appreciated.

I'm assuming you are looking for which wire to hook your A/F Ratio Gauge to...I used the front Passenger O2 which had a Purple wire that led into a blue wire after the connction.

I'm looking for the output wire to install the Diode Mod so I can remove the CATs. I found a post on this forum on installing a 3A Barrell Diode that will correct the voltage telling the PCM the cats are working and thus get rid of the SES light with the P0420 and P0430 codes. It is cheaper then a TUNE and Cheaper then o2 SIMS.

I also contacted a SIMS maker who stated this Diode is basically the same thing they use in the o2 SIMS. But it has to be installed INLINE with the output wire and not in the reference or the o2 heater circuit.

    Any suggestions?

So if I understand this then the purple/wht wire would be the sensor output wire on the down flow o2 sensor??????

if i were you I would just get the codes turned off by a tuner, If you run the car without it all that will happen is your check engine light will stay on. I did the exact same mod you are talking about and all i got out of it was a VERY hot black box, and after awhile it threw my engine light again anyway.
try it if you like, it might work better for you

I would like to have the codes turned off but I can't find anyone around here that has the software to turn it off and I don't like the idea of sending my PCM off to have it done.

Anyone know of someone around Dyersburg, TN that could turn off the p0420 and p0430 codes for me or I would be willing to drive as far as Memphis if someone can give me a contact person.

keep looking, im sure an area that big should have a few tuners. I know Frost on here does the mail order tuning for a really good price and quick turn around.

What kind of simulators were you running?

I put the diode in this morning and everything is FANTASTIC. Car is running great and no DAMN SES light!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I was getting the SES light about every third time I started it. I put about 300 miles on the car today with a combination of Highway and stop-n-go city traffic.

The car was stopped and started about 20 times today with the longest run being about two hours. NO SES LIGHT!!!

When I got home I checked my connections and wires to make sure nothing was HOT or shorted. Everything looks good and feels good.

I'll monitor the thing for awhile and get re-post on the outcome. Maybe this will solve the SES light and the CATs will come off.

mark21742: Hit me back with the name of the o2 simulators you are running, I don't want to run anything that is going to get that HOT. I found a set of store bought ones that look like the o2 sensor pigtail but I can't find any reviews or info on the things.

ok good, sounds like your setup is different than mine was, this is the kit i used for about two weeks then got the codes tuned out
