    Exhaust temp difference

What do you think the temperature difference is between headers and a catalytic converter?

I am just wondering. I was looking at how close the fuel line on the Camaro is to the Manifold/ headers. I am wanting to re-route the exhaust on a 99 2dr Tahoe but the cat would be fairly close to the fuel lines.

    Thanks

Imho, I would try to keep any fuel lines as far away from the heat of a cat, and or headers..
Many times auto manufactures run them down seperate sides away from exhuast routing..

Many times a cat, and or headers will glow cherry red..
For steel, that is usually indicative of temps exceeding 1000+ degrees (F)..
Radiant heat is high @ those temps..

I totally agree with trying to keep the two away from eachother. I was just wondering seeing as how the fuel line on the Camaro is about 4-5 inches from the manifold. The cat would not be that close on the Tahoe. It's lowered 4/6 and I am trying to find a way to run duals. One down each side. Not alot of room underneath.

1/4" air gap & a heat shield will block 90% of it. Even foil insulated tape like on our stock underhood Camaro fuel lines works wonders. Harbor Freight IR Temperature scanner is $29 before coupon.
