Exhaust--Whats the difference?????
I recently bought a 98 z-28 camaro. I want to upgrade the exhaust and have a couple of questions.The 3 inch Flowmaster exhaust is about $300 bucks while the 3 inch Borla exhaust is $830 bucks. What is the major difference between the two as far as increased horsepower and sound?? Also the slp loudmouth was another exhaust I was looking at but I dont want my car to be super loud when I get on the throttle. Any advice on this matter would be great. Thanks for all your help.

IMO you get what you pay for.
Flow Master may be cheap but its the worst for the LS1 engine as far as HP.

The flowmaster isn't going to give very much more power but will sound decent the slp loudmouth will be very loud,
borla, magnaflow, hooker, gmmg, are all really good systems and flow and sound really good. i have gmmg and love the way it sounds but it's more of a personal choice.

Pewter metallic- 2000 Camaro SS
All 3 that you mentioned sound great. The Loudmouth isn't ridiculously loud unless you get rid of the cats and add long tubes, then it gets real loud. The Flowmaster doesn't flow very well, I have seen some instances where the stock catback flowed better than a Flowmaster. The Borla is pricey, but offers and adjustment system so you can remove plates and control the sound of it.
Flow= Loudmouth>Borla>Flowmaster
Loudness=Loudmouth>Borla>Flowmaster
Price=Loudmouth>Flowmaster>Borla
Sound=Borla>Loudmouth>Flowmaster
The Borla and Loudmouth are both stainless IIRC and will hold up longer than the Flowmaster as well.
If you got the money, I would go with the Borla, its as good as any out there for all variables. If you are on a budget, I would go with the Loudmouth as long as you are planning to keep your cats for a while. I would personally keep the stock exhaust versus a Flowmaster catback though. Hope this helps some.

If price is an issue and you don't want it too loud I'd go with a Maginiflow. Stainless construction and flows great. You can add headers later on down the road and it won't be too obnoxious. The Flowmaster is junk. I had it, I know. Doesn't flow well, sounds weak imo, and mine rusted and blew a hole in one of the welds. I have the Borla adjustible catback now and it is nice. Stainless construction and it's adjustible so it goes from quiet as stock to turning heads. Worth it if you wanna spend the money. I like the way the Loudmouth sounds if you keep the stock manifolds and cats, with headers and an ory, too loud and raspy.
