dumbest question someone's asked you about your car

over on tech this is by far my faviorte thread, makes me angry and want to laugh at the same time, was hoping we could get one going over here.:woot:
I'll start with a couple.

First day i got my car my mom comes out to look at it. She looks at it (can hear the insane exhaust) and then asks my dad "what did you say it was honey? A Camry?" Me: "yes mom it's a camry." My brother starts laughing hysterically lol.



At work a couple guys and a chick are chillin in the break room talking about cars as I walk in.
Chick: Yeh I've driven quite a few fast cars for a girl, my dad has a 350z, the one with the big 3.5liter engine, it's realllllly fast.

I walk in

chick: hey, that's your camaro out front isn't it.
Me:yup
guy1: That's a nice Z28 man
guy2: yeh man, I heard you pullin in, that thing puts my v6 stang's exhaust to shame
me: thank you, If yall ever wanna go for a ride or anything I'd be happy to take yall for a spin :)
guys: sweet, we'll have to take you up on that sometime

Chick: Z28....the 28 stands for the 2.8L engine right?
Me: eh it's a 346 small block
chick: oh so it's got a big 3.4Liter V6, sorta like the one in my dad's 350z
Me: oh sorry I meant 346 as in cubic inches, it's a 5.7liter V8
Chick: *gives me a blank stare with a slack jaw* whaa-t I didn't know they made engines that big, that's gotta be the biggest out there.......right?
Me: well it's called a small block for a reason, my brother has a 6.0liter GTO, and there's much bigger examples out there, 383s, 454s, even 5XXs.
Chick: *Looks at me like I just ripped a hole in the space time continuum, traveled back in time and brought back a T-Rex with me* Ok now I know you're bullshitting me, there's no way anyone in their right mind would make an engine that big.
Me: ummmmm........... I gotta get back to work.

chick: talking to guy1&2: he's lying right, there's no way they make engines that big

My car is pretty loud, and I usually drive with it wide open..... so the dumbest question I get, and it happens a lot.... "Is that a V-8?"

No... it's 4 banger with a very deep sounding fart pipe! C'mon ppl.

While dusting off my car at a car show 2 years ago:

Woman taking pics: Excuse me, sir...is that a G6?
Hubby: "No dear" (snatches woman taking pics away in a hurry) "Sorry about my wife, man. She doesn't know much about cars."

My car was running, shaking and she was DIRECTLY behind it where it CLEARLY reads GTO on the driver side trunklid and 5.7 on the passenger side.

not a question but someone at a local car show yells at one of his frinds to check out that Firebird (its a twin turbo camaro Z28) and how his dad had one just like it.

One that all of us T/A guys can relate to.

Pontiac car show a couple years ago. Only about 4 people showed up with 4th gen T/As and Firebirds.

Teen "Hey dad why are there Camaros at a Pontaic car show."

Dad "Son I advise you to walk away slowly. Those are Firebirds and the owners look like they want blood."

We all busted out laughing and proceeded to school him on the differences between the Camaro and Firebird.

More of a statement then a question....

I see this one coming from four cars away. My friend and I went to a show at the Elks club. Here comes giant douche with his wicked hot girlfriend, and he's explaining to her all the cars as they're walking down the line (very poorly I might add). They stop in front of me and my buddy to ask:

D-bag: Hey, does this have the corvette motor in it?
Me: Nope, this one still has the LS1 that Pontiac put in it from the factory.

Had someone telling me he had a buddy who had an LT1 in his 99 Camaro. I just bertstared him down and explained that if he had an LT1 in a 99 Camaro, he put it in, and downgraded his performance. He is just a, uh, slow kinda guy.

had one guy insist that they didn't put the LS1 into the camaro until 2003.

also argued with another guy for 10 minutes about the "sport appearance package (y3f option code)". he claimed that because his car had fog lights it was a y3f car. i vehemently opposed his position since i have a factory y3f car...spoiler and ground effects package. he finally conceded when i told him to walk out side and look at my car and then his...both being z28s...and then go through the options codes on the door of my car and find y3f and then on his and see if it said y3f. i then told him that it would be simple for me to walk outside an find a base v6 camaro with fog lights...that just because his z had them that it wasn't any more special than any other. guys a fuckin idiot.

oh...and the same guy on the y3f. he came into work and asked a coworker if the guy with the firebird still worked here. guy told him "yes he does and it's a camaro" and the guy started getting belligerent and insistent that it was a black firebird.

Pulled into the dealership one day during the cash for clunkers days and the salesman comes up, nice looking firebird you got there... Are you leasing it? Huh?

Nitwit: Telling me I should swap out the V6 for a V8.

Well this isnt a particular question about my car...BUUUUUT it is just as stupid.

I went to get an estimate on getting my windows tinted. Anyway, after a lengthy conversation about cars, the guy tells me that he use to own a 2004 Camaro. Needless to say that anyone who works with cars for a living and tells me something like that, doesnt deserve to tint my windows.

I have been asked 3 times now "how much for that CTS"

My friend asked if I had a trans am or a firebird, when I told him it was a firebird formula he fliped out and to this day they think its the greatest thing ever to ask what kind of car I own

I was asked if my GTO had the big V6 in it.....lol

I was asked if my Corvette had a V8 or V6.

Who did the rear drive conversion on your GTO? Yeah, this one stumped me. He said he had seen this thing done to a Grand Prix before.....haha

It features a fully leather and suede trimmed interior, four-zone climate control, heated and cooled seats, full-color heads up display, auto-tinting heated mirrors, adaptive forward HID lighting, LED rear lighting, adaptive cruise control, lane departure control, magneheteorological damping, navigation and infotainment system with 8" touch display, 14-speaker 7.1 channel THX certified Bose sound system, voice recognition and bluetooth...and many more gadgets that I can't recall at this time.

The STS was, up to this point, the midsize car in Cadillac's lineup. The most impressive part about the STS was it's ability to compare well to the best sedans europe had to offer. With an interior designed and built by Bentley's Draxlmeier, and an options list that features some of the best technology available for it's time, the STS really showed what Cadillac has in store for us down the road.

The CTS-V2 is no longer intended to be the small car in the V lineup. Next year the Cadillac ATS will debut along with a V-variant that will take up the entry-level space for Cadillac's performance series. The ATS will be smaller than the first gen CTS, and the second gen CTS is significantly larger than the first gen CTS, making it relatively close to the STS in size. Thus the reason that the STS-V was discontinued following the 2009 model year. Going forward, Cadillac's lineup will be ATS (small sedan/coupe), CTS (midsize sedan/coupe), XTS (full-size sedan only), and in 2015, the ZTS will debut as Cadillac's flagship sedan, possibly introducing the first V12 offering in GM's history.
