At least I don't have to buy premium in the winter. the 4x4 sucks regular!
$3.29 for 87 in the civic
$2.54 for moonshine (E85) for the GMC
I am already cringing at buying premium for the camaro this spring it's in the $3.60 range.
Yeah man me too! If it hit $5 a gallon like "they" say it is she might not have much driving time this year!
$3.89 for 93 premium..
last year was almost $5.00 for regular gas..
im happy with my gas mileage
get ready to get raped at the pumps this summer.....going to get a lot worse. Diesel is $3.45 right now but I bet it'll be $5+ by the end of the summer. I'm buying a horse and buggy. :D
3.19
Houston area
3.49 for 87 here in the $hitty Chi-town area.
3.79 for premium in my area of Chicago
I don't even look @ the prices just pump it full of premium (93)..
Look for $5 dollar gas soon..;)
^ i usually do too. i hate when people freak out that gas has gone up 50 cents a gallon and its a crisis and yada yada and all that but when really in a 15 gal tank that means its an extra 7.50 to fill your tank :dunno:. Now $5/gal is a different story thats when i start driving a lil bit slower
Ill be purchasing another r6 this year. 47mpg.
3.30 for regualr here. The T/A's still away for the winter, and I'm thinking of parking my Camaro and driving the wife's TDI till things calm down. We average about 40mpg in that thing.
3.48 in harco maryland
Too fricken high is what they are...gonna kill my wallet this summer. Sons of bitches.
As of today, Chevron:
Reg: $3.719
Plus: $3.819
Premium: $3.859
Diesel $3.999
^ Costco is 3.61 on Morena Blvd
San Diego Premium 3.69 on Monday, 3.69 Today
93 $3.49 Memphis
91 octane is $3.39 here. Not that big of a deal. I put it in everything we own. I was paying way over $4 a gallon for 94 octane back in Ohio a few years ago when we had the last gas crisis.
Momma's SS camaro gets 30 mpg highway and it's getting 23-24 around town here. It's respectable enough that I don't worry about it.
My daily ride is a 72 blazer currently 355/350 turbo combo, and it gets 13/16 city/highway. Gas prices don't sway me from driving it. I just filled it up yesterday and it was over $50 :spit:
It's getting a 6.0/4L60E swap here in a couple weeks. Not sure if it will do better on gas or not (it should), but will be fun to drive either way, that's all that matters in the end. ;)
I'm sure as hell not going to buy a 4 banger econo box just because gas is going up.
3.35+ for premium!!
My series II is worse as well..
Yep, it's respectable when it comes to mileage if you are nice to it. I keep it maintained well, and it has a nice tune in it (pat myself on the back ;))
Though I would think a mild little 346 with fuel injection and a double overdrive 6 speed ought to be pretty darn good on gas anyway,,,right??
I just topped it off today as a matter of fact, 134 miles on the trip odometer and it took 5.6 gallons right up to the top of the neck. That's all city driving in mainly 25-45 mph zones with alot of stop and go.
Ya there is always a trade off, but that setup you have still sounds very driveable.
My wifes car has a Crane valvetrain setup in it...
210/218 at .050 with .551 lift on a 112 lsa. Crane adjustable roller rockers, double springs, pushrods etc...
Then I installed an LS6 intake, ported the throttle body, and a set of long tube headers with an off road Y-pipe. That's it,,,the rest of the car is bone stock right down to the factory catback, 3.42's, 6 speed.
Last trip to California got us 30.17 mpg with alot of 29.xx's and that included going over the Sierra Nevada's.
Yours is an auto too right?? That's pretty damn good. my 02 SS is an auto,,,and before the converter it would do 22 mpg in town, and 25-26 is about all it will do on the highway with 3.23's and cruising at 75 mph (speed limit).
It's only mods now are a 3400 stall, long tube headers and off road Y-pipe. That's it. It does 20 mpg in town now (I lost about 2 mpg) but highway didn't change. Still not the 30 mpg you are getting with your auto though.
My LQ1 is a meager 207 ci. the window sticker shows under max mpgs of 24 per gal.. Rarely did I see it but it happened lol..
My 3800 window sticker is about 26 mpg max..
Definetly could be attributed to the cars being so heavy.. However the heavy weight in my Camaro is from the all iron engine alone.. In my z34 it comes from the car itself being a larger w-bodied coupe.. We need more peddle stock to get us rollin' than you v8 guys.. Plus you v8 guys have torque all day and we usually have to build/rev up to it.. Sure the 3800 makes good low end but it is'nt like a bigger v8.. Tho a 3800-II rarely ever has trouble with the old smogger v8's.. Even some of the newer big suburban/yukon won't pull a good 3800 those trucks are just too heavy stock.. You'd need mods or a BB..:chuckles:
Hey there.... Regular Unleaded as of today here in Barrie, Ontario was $1.17/Litre....
Works out to $4.47 a US gallon!
I haven't even looked at Premium prices in 4 months, not since I put the SS
away for the winter.:canada:
Not in Arizona either.
All you'll find out here is crappy 91.
I know some places in missouri doesn't have 93 also..
in N.O. gas went from to $2.89 to $2.99 to $3.05 to $3.19 now its $3.29 all those prices were for regular,i might have to keep the 02 Cavalier looks like the T/A will be resting for the summer also because its a must that i use the A/C & the A/C burns more gas especially with a V8 car
Well with a MS4 cam, 3500 stall that has NO freaking lockup atm, i go through 2-3 tanks a week, i DD the car to school and work, work is 5 miles away, school is 25ish, thats back and forth 4 times a week...
93 was 3.79 today, filled up.
But in the long run, paying more now for gas is WAY cheaper than a car note/ loan payment for another DD car, + insurance.
It sucks, but ill live.
I just ASSume its going up between 30 to 50cents a year...it helps me not freak every time it goes up.
or to make ourselves feel better...in 10 yrs we will thinking "wow it was cheap back then remember when gas was 3.50$ a gallon!"
on a tangent...
Dept of Energy just released the following info on a hybrid class 8 truck project...
Although the largest trucks—Class 8, with a gross vehicle weight rating (GVWR) above 33,000 lb—make up only 1% of the U.S. highway vehicle fleet, they are responsible for almost 20% of highway petroleum consumption
The National Renewable Energy Laboratory’s (NREL’s)
Fleet Test and Evaluation team is evaluating the 12-month,
in-service performance of five Class 8 diesel hybrid-electric delivery trucks and five comparable conventional diesel trucks
operated by Coca-Cola Refreshments in Miami/South Dade County, Florida.
NREL is evaluating the five hybrid and five diesel trucks from May 2010 to May 2011 as the trucks serve their Miami/South Dade delivery area.To track the progress of the Coca-Cola hybrid truck evaluation project, visit the AVTA (www.eere.energy.gov/vehiclesandfuels/avta) and Fleet Test and Evaluation (www.nrel.gov/vehicles

Piece of cake, Z28thunder and myself are not the only ones doing it.
You really have to maintain the cars, keep tire pressures up, change the 02 sensors regularly just like you do spark plugs and wires.
I think 02's are the big factor here. Most people just let them ride,,,but they are consumables just like everything else. After 40-50,000 miles they are at the end of their expected life.
As far as mods, if done correctly and not too extreme, it will actually help your gas mileage.
My wifes car as I mentioned has a cam, headers, off road Y, and a lid.
The cam is a mild 210/218 at .050 and .551 lift on a 112 lsa. It also has full roller rocker arms from Crane.
I tune it myself, now running an SD tune in the car and it's doing better than ever on gas now. 23-24 around the city in stop and go. It does 30+ on the highway cruising at 75-80 mph. 6 speed so it's only turning 17-1800 rpms. Still has the stock 3.42's and stock tire and wheels sizes.
Alot of these younger folks like to stick larger wheels and tires on the cars, add a bunch of stereo equipment and other doodad add ons. All this stuff kills mileage.
Keep your bolt ons from being excessive, keep the camshaft duration at 224 or less, maintain the car regularly as I mentioned above, and don't forget about 02 sensors, then find yourself a real good tuner that knows what they are doing, and most importantly, drive the car sensibly and you'll be rewarded with better mileage. :)
I think you forgot to mention one hell of a tail wind. My ss on a good day with the right conditions might get 18 mpg in town but no where near 20 mpg. even with mild driving.
It will go up and then come down. I figure since I am not a raging alcoholic, dont smoke, do drugs, or buy stupid shit on a normal basis that its not a huge deal. Yeah it hits the pocket a little more but like someone else stated its cheaper than a bank note for another car.
Wish I had my bikes back. That sure would help with the gas prices this summer! I expect it to come down to what it was a while back after it goes up to $4+ per gallon.
and there is no OIL SHORTAGE.......just speculators driving the price of oil up
That's just it. We have plenty of oil but the tree huggers won't let us drill. They said on the news the other day we have as much as 80-100 years worth of supply here that is still untapped.
Canada has a huge supply up there as well.
Prices would plummet for gas if we drilled our supply of oil here instead of buying it overseas. But the big wigs wouldn't be filling their pockets that way.
Gas prices in the Middle East are .70 cents a gallon.
$3.49 in Mid Mich for 87. $3.70 for 93.
I just paid 3.75 shell i only put premium
Its not just speculators that make gas cost so much.
Salaries at the refinery get pretty high for trades and just plain nuts for planners.
Government regulations drive the cost. Excess cost all over the place.
Just plain blows!
i'm somewhat glad my DD takes regular unleaded. Premium is over 3.50......
$3.39 for 87 Octane in Northwest, IN.
I believe it is close to $4 a gallon in Chicago for 87 Octane.
I don't let gas prices bother me. You have to drive regardless and I have no control over it so why bitch.
My last fill-up in the Impala LTZ, which has around a 16 gallon tank was $55. That lasts me a week if I am lucky. In the summer when the SS comes out to play, I spend double that a week between both cars. The SS can easily go through a tank of gas in a few days and being I put 92+ Octane in it only, it costs even more to drive it than the Impala.
It is what it is. My guess would be I spend roughly $400-$500 a month in gas between both cars in the summer.
I just got my z28 cammed out stall and more stuff and it wastes alot of gasss. I put unleaded for now .its expeNsive
There are things you can do in the tune with your part throttle cruising areas and find 2-4 mpg. Just have to find a good tuner.
The California 91 octane crap was going for $3.99 at the local cut rate ARCO station yesterday, but it is going up daily. I actually felt blessed that I was driving my 69 Mustang and it can use mid grade. Hey, it was only $3.89! Bargain, huh? But I feel good that I am safeguarding the little animals by not drilling for oil here in our own backyard and dropping my pants and leaning over an oil barrel for a bunch of third world garbage. How about you?
Exactly! This isn't a supply or demand issue, it's an "I think I can make a buck off a shortage when the Middle East turns to crap politically" issue. Even with our great good friends the Saudis promising to increase their production to offset any problems elsewhere, the fear in the investment community is enough to drive up futures. Imagine if we were pumping our own oil from the North Slope in Alaska. Then our enemies wouldn't have us by the cahones. But, we would be risking the futures of little animals everywhere.
if ya know where to go, like i do, you can get 93 octane for $2.50 a gal. but at most places its $3.30-$3.60
You can be happy.......I have paid 1,29 €/l, ( with actual €/$ rate it equals to 6,73 $/gal ).........and the best mileage of my cars is with the Z28.......
paid 3.51 in SE Missouri saturday night only bought 10 bucks haha. just enough to go out and have a little fun
I stand corrected of my earlier post. I bought this morning on the way to work. $3.59/gallon in a bad neighborhood. This was for 87 Octane.
93 is about $3.50 around here. Hopefully the GTO I'm picking up next month doesn't get much worse than my SS with 410s. My bike will see a lot of miles this year.
hi there ! you are lucky you live in USA ......i paid yesterday 1,37 euro for 1 liter .....its 7,15 $ for 1 Gallon.......:Owned:
greets Robert/Vienna
It would be nice to know what minimum wage is over in Europe. you guys are comparing your prices to ours and if minimum wage was 2 euros an hour then that would be expensive. If its 7.50 euros an hour like it is over here then that's not so bad
3.79 for premium here...
i filled my truck up and when i went to open the door to get in i noticed my arm missing....luckily my leg was still there..
I got 24 with a H/C/I/E and aftermarket fuel system (bigger injectors and FP) setup on the hwy. Is your car tuned? Also, how do you drive. People don't understand their driving style is the biggest cause/effect to mpgs. Even late breaking is an mpg killer.
Even when I was cam only 28mpg was an obtainable number.
I can't even get 25MPG on my V6 3.9L Impala LTZ...and it has engine management where it runs on 3 cyl...
Yea i don't think that works all that well..
:brick::suicide:
3.49 for regular here
I stopped at the local Maverick just this past monday,,,,91 octane was $3.51.
I stopped at the same Maverick today,,,,91 octane is now $3.59.
It just keeps creeping up. I see $4 a gallon by summer no sweat.
Great thats all this country needs. 4.00 a gallon gas!!!!! What a mess !!!!!!
3.64 premium in louisville ky
Ok, so what's their reasoning now, why was this so predictable?
here on Long Island its $3.50 for reg and $3.82 for Premium!:growl:
$4,$5 heck $6 and more is coming. Oil is not a renewable resource. IMO we have already waited to long to find the next resource whatever that is.
