Who drive with Mobil 1 0-40W oil
Hi all
I have problem with my engine. here is the link to my problem.
I bought the camaro last summer 2008 with 138tkm fresh from oil service Fullsynthetic 5w40 oil. After 141tkm i have change the oil and the filter and fill it up with the Mobil 1 0w40. Now with 148tkm comes the problem...
this spring i will replace the headgasket, collector gasket and and ..
So now who drive with the 0w40 oil from Mobil 1? (Penzoil isnt available! in switzerland) any problems?
I must found the reason for this problem, a headgasket doesnt sweating without a cause...
So thanks for reading

I was using the 0-40 for a while till I noticed seepage around the main seal on my last 02 Z28. I switched back to 5-30 and the seepage went away.

that oil is too thin for these engines

You base this on what?
You can run it just fine, you just may notice more oil being burned/seepage as it is a thinner oil, but your climate determins alot, your pry not going to want to use it in warmer climate, but here in SD were a -35 degree start is not unheard of, it will be slightly more beneficial....

Any motor that "springs a leak" needs a internal cleaning...this eliminates many issues such as varnish/sludge up under gaskets etc. causing leaks....dirty rings causing oil consumption....
I do not like solvent based cleaners as they are very hard on gaskets/seals. The thing I found works extremely well is this....AUTO RX
Follow the instructions to the letter.
Then see how your leaks etc. are.
It is esters based (la natural)...and is really great at cleaning yes...but also swells seals and gaskets and allows them to reform...I have seen it stop leaks myself....and make the engine run so much better. A clean engine is a healthy engine guys....

Previously i check my engine again. Since the last engine cleaning its still dry, there is none new oil over or around the gasket. Strange things... hmm where flow the oil, when i fill to much oil in the engine ? Is there anywhere a overflow vavle or something else?

No they dont advise against it...just during the rine phase as synthetics have more robust add packs that would work against the Auto RX Esters.....so just during the rinse phase....
