Storage?
So how do all you guy/gals store your vehicles for the winter??
I rent a garage for the winter, take out the battery and keep it covered.
I was thinking about putting up on jackstands to keep the tires off the ground... is this safe?
any other advice, or Do's & DON'Ts is appreciated.
Thanks

My life is a- Ben Stiller movie.
mmm, i disagree with a bit of your methods. Keep the battery in there, start the car once every 2-3 weeks and try to drive it if you can. That keeps everything lubricated and all seals/gaskets happy. If you're really worried abotu flat spotting the tires, you can put it on jackstands or get some thick carpet foam to drive it onto. I agree with the fuel stabil though.

That's is what I do. Put it up on jack stands, start it every so often, even put it in gears so let the tranny fuilds move around as well, add sta-bil to a fuel tank, I even change the oil before the storage. So once the summer come it's ready to hit the road again.

I always take my battery out and put it in the basement. This will insure it will start without a charge next spring. If your not gonna drive it don't start it up. I drop my insurance from Nov - April and there is usually salt all over the roads so it doesn't make sense for me to drive it at all. Here's my checklist for storage.
- Plastic under car to stop condensation. A lot of moisture come up from concrete (I use this year round with carpet over it).
- Remove battery
- Clean car
- Condition leather
- Check tire pressure
- Car cover
- Fill gas tank
- Change oil in spring.
I've been storing my car like this for 7 years on the stock tires and don't have any flat spots.
A heated garage would be the most ideal for preventing gaskets, etc from dry rotting. I just put a heater in mine this year.

Fill the tank, less room for condinsation to start to forn if you have any rappid temp changes.

I should have noted I change my oil in the spring because I only put about 500 miles on my car over the summer. So the oil is still very fresh. Otherwise I would change it in the fall.

Tires aren't really a big deal on the ground, unless of course you have bias ply tires because that's where the whole "tires off the ground" originated from..

Here in the north we get enough snow that there is no way you are getting around in a F-Body, some days it’s hard to even get around in a 4x4 truck. Also not to mention all the salt on the roads does very bad things to chrome rims and body panels.
For storage I fill the tank and add some stabilizer. I also leave the battery in and start the car every 2 or 3 weeks and move it backwards or forwards a inch or two just to keep a different part of the tire on the pavement.1998 Camaro SS Hard Coupe Bright Red #1593

my dad does this with his '72 sting ray. drives me crazy.
i mean shit, i realize keeping the miles minimal and all, but he's wanted one of these for as long as i can remember and finally got one 3 years ago and i doubt he's put 300 miles on it. gets it out 1 once a month or so to take it 5 miles up the hwy to sonic or somethin like that. TAKE IT OUT AND SHOW IT OFF!!!! although i geuss he is just keeping it safe and off the road for when he passes it down to me 20+ years from now....
i keep telling him i will put a few miles on it for him.

LOL yea last year we got 13 inches of snow in one storm. The drifts from that storm by my house got 12 feet tall and about a 1/4 mile long which pretty much shut down all roads for a day or so. We did not even break our record total for a year, but still got 60 some inches total last year.
