Genius here needs help

Alright today I was finishing up my plug change. Did 1,3,5,7 yesterday at night and decided to finish the rest today. Got under the car and changed 8 like nothing, easy. Went to take off the wire on two and I followed the whole "yank it off" method and yanked about half the wire off. I just took the end right out. So, I need new wires.

The help question was does anybody know maybe a better method rather than just yank 'em off?

And

What are some good after market wires?

Always twist and pull the boot ONLY! Not the wires!

There is a tool that looks something like a pliers that helps on the really stuck ones too. But use it only on the boot.

That's the only way to do it without screwing up.
Use plenty of dielectric grease in the boot when you re-install them.
(any auto parts store has it, maybe called boot grease etc.)

Are you yanking on the wire itself? Pull on the boot not the wire. If it won't come off get a flathead screwdriver behind the base of the boot and pry it off, it'll come

All of them so far i was yankin on the boot and just this one with the angle or something i ended up pulling on the wire for a sec and oops. Like i said, all the others are a ok, just this one I did it to. got the grease and using it, too.

also, are plug wires plug wires, as in it doesn't really matter what kind you get just as long as you have them or what? autozone and oreillys both have their "house" brand in stock, but i didn't know if i should just spend more money to get "better" ones or not. If they are all the same i will just get the cheapies$$

In my opinion when you are running a short wire likes on an LS1 a wire is a wire. Now I am about to get flamed for saying that. . .ready GO

the bigger wire, you'll xfer a better spark. less resistance.

Dont put too much dielectric grease in the boots, or pressure will build up inside and they push themselves off, just dab a little on the head of each plug.

OTC used to make a great tool, kind of like a shoe horn that slid down and tugged on the bottom of the boot, but (at least in CANADA) you cant get them anymore. Snapon sells one with big vampire teeth at the bottom, which is just great for F*king up the boot and allowing the spark to jump out to the nearest ground. That engineer needs a ballpeen to the cranium.

Taylor ThunderVolt 10.5 mm. wires, just about the lowest resistance per foot of any wire & they have excellent RF supression so you won't get any radio interference (I have them on my car). As someone else has mentioned, get the tool that looks like a pair of long nose pliers that have a "loop" at the end. They're made specifically for removing plug wires at the BOOT. And, as someone else has mentioned, when you put on your new wires put some dielectric silicone grease around the inside of the boot before you put them on the plug and also on the boot that goes onto the coil pack. It makes installation and future wire removal much easier, and it helps seal the wires from moisture.
