Tax Refund, WTF?!?
I used turbotax this year for state and federal taxes. I filed back in february. I got my federal refund really fast, but as usual, I owed on state. I usually owe between 40-200 to state. So I sent the check in for 61.87 to Iowa. Well this morning, 8 months after the fact, Iowa sent me a refund. I am really perplexed here. I by all rights OWE, I even went back and did it on paper just to recheck. I live with parents. No loans, no stocks, no kids. Just a job. I have the easiest returns to do, there is NO fucking way it was messed up. And I checked news sites, to my knowledge Iowa didn't issue refunds for anything else. It doesn't say who to contact to figure out what happened. Only 194 dollars, but still. Kind of worries me.
Then again, maybe I am turning lucky, this morning I checked the computer and found out I was given an extra 8 hours of vacation to take. Gonna take that before anyone notices it!

The saying refers to the practice of checking a horses teeth for several health conditions, as well as its age. Its something you always do when you are buying a horse. (well, the vet does it anyway) Now, if someone was GIVING you a horse for free, why would you insult the owner by checking it out first? They could still take that shit back if you piss them off.
And so, we have the analogy.

well i wouldnt spend it all at once and if you cash it make sure you can pay it back. i know that isnt alot of money but just make sure. ive been broke lately due to bills. but i also have my car payment plus ins, along with my mortgage and utilities, so i get hit pretty good in the pockets but i still manage to put some in savings. thats why ive been broke lately, i put a certain amount in savings every month and count that as a bill though.
