Black on the underside of the hood(engine bay)?

I'm just wondering if this is normal or does it indicate some sort of problem.

If you look at the underside of my hood on the engine bay side. Theres a semi-big black streak going across it horizontally. Does this indicate some sort of problem or is it semi-normal? I haven't tried cleaning it to see if it occurs again. It does not seem to be growing.

I bought it used with 45k miles and I didn't put anything, so I'm not sure.

Just clean it and make sure it's not oil or something coming up form the engine. Most likely, it's just road grime. I use quick detailer and a rag to clean mine.
