Is the tremec factory for the ss or is something that has been added?

Well that answers that...
It is the factory 6 speed manual trans for any LS1 vehicle.

Thanks for the reply Is there any upgrades already or not, the reason I am asking is that i am getting ready to rebuild it and just curious.

There are plenty of upgrades for it.
It all depends on what you need out of it.
3-4 shift fork is one piece that should be upgraded while it is out.
To be honest, not too familiar with the working order of the T56.

2002 Z28 A4 NBM- Sadly now demodded :(
You substitute certain pieces (input shaft and shifter forks among others) with those used in a Viper trans. Makes it much stronger than stock as they are the same tranny with different guts.

the fork pads should be upgraded..along with the forks.

so far I have the 3-4 steel shift fork/pads, billet keys, carbon fiber syncros, bronze shifter bushing on the list

actually its borg warner t56 thats in our car, soon after 2002 the t56 was sold as a desighn and name to tremec, other than that go to sixspeedsinc.com they will get you on the right path.
