HOw to spot a ws6 or formula
Sup guys, dumb question but I gotta ask
HOw do you tell a ws6 from a standard forumla? I found a 2000 TA with a ram air hood but no other ws6 identification on it. I'm not an expert at these cars. Carfax said nothing other then forumla. Other ws6's I have seen usually have some sort of ws6 sticker on them. I dunno if that is put on by the owner or not.
I looked at the other stickies and diden't see anything

My life is a- Ben Stiller movie.
A firebird with a V8 is a formula.
A Trans Am is a formula, however a formula is not a trans am
A Trans Am is a ws.6 if it has 17" rims, 30MM swaybar, 3.42 axle, ws.6 emblem and ram air hood.
They did make formula ws.6's just a few until 2000, i belive.
The main difference between a firebird/formula and a trans am/ws6 is the front clip. Firebird/formula has fogs and DRLs on the outer most part of the front, where as the TransAm has the fogs more toward the center.
Finally: you'll see "formula or trans am" written on the door.

the formy could be had in a stripper car (i.e.: hardtop, cloth, manual windows, etc.) where as all 98 up T/A's were T-Top, Leather cars.
The DIfferences between a 98-02 formula and a T/A, the front bumper is different... the location of the lights... also the T/A has side skirts, a different rear bumper with pronounced exhaust openings, and a raised rear spoiler (exceopt on vert models)
Only in the 6 spd cars...
WS6 raised lower air box
1LE springs (for '98, '99, and some '00s)
The Factory Ws6, also had different exhaust, round crome tips, for the WS6, Rectangular ovals for the standard T/A and Formy. The exception was the 98 model WS6's, they had the single 3.5" exhaust protruding from the drivers side opening.
I remembered it at first by this... the FIREbird (formula) has the fog lights on the OUTSIDE. T/A has them on the inside, Would u rather have a FIRE inside or OUTSIDE?

Although that looks great,,,it doesn't really accurately show what a formula Ws6 looks like. That is actually a T/A WS6 hood on a Formula that has been added.
A real WS6 formula will have a more subtle ramair hood that actually forms one opening on each side instead of the parting line you see in the pics that makes it appear to have 2 openings on each side.
If I'm not mistaken I believe that hood is still available too.
