Stock CATs and warranty
I ran across a old post that said GM extended the warranty on the CATs to 10 years 120K miles?? Is this correct? If so does it carry over to new ownership or is this special warranty just for the original owner?
Which leads me to my next question...... What is wrong with them? During my search for a car two of them I ran CARFAX on came back with having a CAT replaced.
Extended warranty, 2 of 8 cars I looked up had CAT service.... Something is up.
No, I am not going to get rid of them, or put on high flows, just curious about what the issue is and the warranty coverage.
Thanks!!

Dont know if the firebird and trans am ones are the same but the ones on the firebird i used to have was clogged after only about 46000 miles. The service department said that they had been having a problem with these.

Well found my own answer. All 00-02 cars CAT warranty was extended to 10/120 and you do not have to be the original owner.
Still not sure quite what is wrong with them though.

It is all over the sites. Just tell the dealership, they will look it up and find it.

As soon as I took mine to the dealership they looked it up and told me what it was and that they had been extended and would take care of it no charge.
