Did they cut you a check for the motor and installation already? If it's not the daily driver and you plan to do mod's to it, just keep the motor out untill your done with it and then put it back into the car.

hey where in Wisconsin are u? Its good to hear that insurance is covering it. Are they just covering a direct replacment or just giving you the money cause if they are giving you the money you should look into an LS6.

Look into an LS6? Whhhhhy? Ide look into a T(are they a Sponsor yet?!?!?)P stroker motor. 402. Whats the LS1 cost out of crate? Whats the LS6 cost??? I could not justify spending money on a brand new crate LS1/LS6 motor. Put the money towards more cubes if they are just giving the money towards a new motor.
Shit with LS2 LS1 and LS6 crate engines going for 5 + grand, WTH would you not buy a stroker??? Blows my mind.

Longer engine life.

You could build a VERY mild 402/408 that would drive great on the street. Why do you assume its life span is shorter? If a bottom end is set up correctly, the only thing on the engine to worry about is the valve-train. Put a really mild cam in it, and I guarantee you have an engine that can last just as long as a crate LS1/6

Hey guys I live in Colgate Wisconsin suburb of milwaukee. The car is all done with a new gm ls1 crate motor. Insurance would only cover that believe me I wanted ls6 or stroker motor. It runs great very smooth. I am going to keep this one stock.I have a 68 firebird that runs high 11s with spray so this is my daily driver. thanks for your interest and all your help.
