1997 Grand Cherokee- 1999 Firebird.
Alright gun peeps, it's new gun time. Suggestions?
I have that itch again. It's time for a new pistola. I honestly don't know what I want this time. I've owned a couple of Glocks but got rid of them in favor of my Springfield XD .45 which I loooove. I have a Springfield Champion 1911 and a Beretta 92F. I've looked at the HK USP but I don't like the magazine release and I don't like the decock lever on the Sigs. I know more than one person will suggest a Desert Eagle but those things are almost useless. I'm kind of leaning toward another AR-15. I'd like to have one in 6.8mm. THOUGHTS OR SUGGESTIONS?

If price is no concern... Springfield M1A. I just bought the SOCOM 16 model last week for $1600; the M1A's run from around $1k upwards of $5K, depending on the model. However, you get 10 rounds (20 round mags also available) on magazine-fed .308 Winchester, and a personnel-target range of 500 to 1200 meters, depending on which model you choose.
I also own two AR15's and an AK, so those are good choices if you are looking for cheaper ammo options (5.56mm and 7.62x39mm are a good bit cheaper than .308Win) and ranges of 500m or less (for the AR, the AK is really a 200m and less gun). If you are looking and the 6.8 or one of the other new exotic caliber AR's, you are going to see substantial ammo costs and a much more limited market for spare magazines.
It really depends on what you want to do with the rifle, and what distances you are looking to cover with it. The DSA FAL clones and PTR HK G3 clones are also very nice pieces in .308Win caliber, but the G3's have a locking-lug system that vents gasses down the sides of the brass casings, so any brass shot through a G3-style weapon cannot be reloaded, if you are into reloading. Most of my experience is with law enforcement/military style arms due to my work, so I can't offer much in the way of comment on hunting-style weaponry.

Burple- 1966 427 Cobra Replica
I didn't like the mag release on my USP at first either. Once I got used to it, though, I began to prefer it to a standard mag release. I can use my index finger and/or my thumb but I usually use both.
I love my AKs.
