my cousin told me today that toulene (ingredient in paint stripper) can be used to raise octane levels and is very effective in cars that are prone to pull timing...anyone ever hear of this??..also heard that it works well with supercharged or turbo charged engines...heres a little info that i found...

yup, its supossed to help clean internals, boost power and mileage. your biggest concern over time is it will degrade rubber gaskets, seals and O-rings

It works, but its not like pouring in a little bit is gonna raise your gas octane from 91 to 100. From what I've read about it, 12-16 ounces will only raise octane 2-3 "points", as in from 91 to 91.3 and I think a gallon brings it up about 1.4 points. This is just what I've read only several other forums in the past, so I may be off a bit, so don't flame me too bad if I am.

your exactly right... but for $3.70 for 93octane or $6.50 for 100 octane race fuel it's worth it for the little bump in octane level if your just off the edge of being able to run pump gas

Even at 93 octane... your still sitting at 93.3!! Quite awhile back there was a discussion on octane boosters. To me, they are pointless. Most costumers dont understand its based on a *point* system. Not worth it. Its old school technology.

I've run it in my truck before with no after-effects that I know of. Google search it, i'm sure there are discussions on other forums (of course I researched it before running it).
